Time for my annual Post:
Ive just preorded the latest Ghost in the shell:Stand alone Complex DVD and noticed something strange at the bottom of the Special features box (except for the Tachikoma pressed box bit....
)
Hmmm....Wasnt the uplink demo changed recently?

No probs,
Would be strange if its the full version of uplink modded, but somehow i doubt it (believe it or not, me girlfriend wants the t-shirt cause she likes Stand alone complex too (mostly cause the tachikoma's are "cute" )).
Wonder if anybody else is reading these posts...

Yep that bonus hacking simulator thingy is the Uplink Stand Alone Complex demo you saw on this site a few weeks ago. This was basically a joint Introversion-Manga marketting effort - they wanted to expose some gamers to Stand Alone Complex, and we wanted to expose some manga fans to Uplink. The Uplink demo is now going out on a load of Manga dvds in time for Christmas, so hopefully more peeps!

Its not like i use Leet(sic) key in firefox or anything....
Congrats to Chris & co (AkA Introversion) on getting the job. Pretty original way to get some joint marketing i think!
Any more mods for Uplink for different animes that we should know about, eh chris??

Hidden uplink file on stand alone complex dvd!!!
Hello,
My SAC(sic) volume 7 finally arrived yesterday. Had an extremely satisfying ending (yet incredibly confusing!) to the series, the laughing man incident is now over and motoko can get her head back together.(Literally)
Anyway thats not what im here for.
To actually get at the SAC uplink demo, there is no autorun.inf so unless you knew there was something on the dvd (in which all the other volumes and disc 1 of this volume have no other data on them) you just wouldnt know it was there.
Anyway, after loading up the dvd on the old p-c there is a program in the root called (funnily enough) thelaughingman.exe. When this loads you are greeted with:
In which you can run the game, visit the Standalonecomplex website and get wallpapers (not very good ones i might add).
And thats it. Spread the good word of the original Laughing man hidden on the dvd. And may Uplink spread even more far and wide.
One more thing. for all it does, its a 2.29mb executable. More hidden files maybe?
