Do I deduce from this thread that the "Great Firewall of China" does not consider a game about hacking and stealing to be "detrimental to the morality of the youth"?

Hey guys, do me a favour: Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/news. No, actualy, don't. There's no point, 'cause the govenment have banned it.

How about http://www.amnesty-usa.org? No luck? Too bad.

Don't bother with MIT, Cancer support or (for some reason) Red Lobster Seafood Restaurants, then.

The clever bit is that some sites are only semi-blocked: they allow a percentage of DNS lookups. So the connection just seems poor rather than screwed.

You know, some people in the west are worried and upset about the way the chinese govenment restricts information. Me, I just think it's funny as hell. Let's all mock the Internet cripples.

And God said "Let there be Babel fish." And Lo, there was Babel fish.

And doormat's got a point, you know. :P

<EDIT: Stoopid closing inverted commas. Think they're so great cause they're all stoopid and closing. And inverted.>

Wow, I can't believe my login still works. To my fellow chinese peeps, welcome to a somewhat elitist forum! It's been 14 years since I came to the states, and it absolutely astounds me how far the entire asian economy has come. It's true that now 'tis better to be a genius in beijing than a B+ student in alabama.

Doormat, Frostshard, for one who references Superman, and for another whose sig contains a joke that belongs in "Be Cool", believe me it doesn't make you look witter or smarter to poke fun of foreign languages.

I wasn't mocking the language, I was mocking the translator. (And writing in chinese in an english-speaking fourm is a little rude.)

And I think Frostshard was talking about the censorship of the internet that china engages in when he said I had a point.

I couldn't live in china: I was offered a job there when I graduated, and the money was good, but the total lack of personal rights and military parades with plywood missiles put me off. Face it. Do you watch ABC? They wouldn't let you do that in China. Know what's going on in North Korea? Bet the chinese public don't. Student in the US? Go to any anti-war demos? Can you imagine an anti-war protest in China?! There would be tanks.

I'd rather be a drop-out in Alabama than a genius in Beijing.

(and who the hell referanced Superman?) :P

There is nothing wrong with posting in a different languge here. I made posts in 12 or 13 languages one day and have posted birthday greetings in 161 languages. This is an incredibly international community and threads in all languages are welcome (at least historically). I myself studied Mandarin Chinese for a couple years, but unfortunately most of my vocabulary has now left me. :)
