You can post as many pictures as you want, it doesn't change that you don't have any substantial arguments to provide.

I've come to the conclusion that ignorance can't be bliss since you are obviously miserable. And for you to be miserable that would mean that the opposite of ignorance: knowledge, wisdom, is indeed bliss.

The quote is there. It's a "Hacker Simulator".

Uplink is no more related to "real hacking" then the movie hackers is. To say it is shows a lack of actual computer and network knowledge.

It may be marketed as a hacking simulator, the same way Gran Tourismo is a racing simulator. They have very little to do with the real subject.

As for substance of my arguement.
1) I have the source code to Uplink.
2) I actually work with large scale servers and networks.
Both of those facts back up my statements that what you are saying regarding Uplink being anyway near "real" hacking, is very naiive.

Now now. I never said you were actually hacking anything when hacking in Uplink. You never were using a real password cracker to hack any of the passwords in Uplink, it was just a game, yes. So your knowledge of the Uplink Source code is completely and utterly irrelevant!

But the game illustrates in a very simple way how hacking is done.
Just like Gran Turismo may not be Microsoft Flight Simulator it still illustrates how Racing works, that you drive around in laps, you push pedals to give gas, you turn the wheels to turn the car, etc.

Just like Uplink.

Now may I please win first place this time? Please!?

Pilots train on Microsoft Flight Simulator at home before they take up the exams in the big official simulators (and those are cool btw O_O srsly). For example.

Not sure about Flight Sim X, but I know that in older MS Flight Sim games the flight model was very poor, didn't provide pilots with any realy kind of flight experience. It was essentially just a game for enthusiasts

X-Plane on the other hand has a much better flight model, including a FAA approved version that is used for pilot training

I don't know about X-plane, sounds interesting.

MSF ain't "Official" but many pilots still use it.
I just checked the X-plane website and that to me seems like a software you'd use on a real simulator. Who the hell has 70gigabyte to use up on a home computer anyway?
I might just about squeze that in currently and never again squeze anything in. But darn it looks good! Real weather, space flight, *geez*
It has improved greatly over the years.

I can only concur with this.

and still 70G gigs isn't much any more. With the prices for okay
quality 250GB harddisks today.

FYI: I have 2x 160G, a 180G and a 250G disk
(and 70gigs is for the whole world, europe is only about 6 or 7 gigs)

And as Rkiver et al have stated Uplink is nowhere near real hacking.
And as such can never be compared to X-Plane which takes the
trouble of trying to simulate REAL world conditions.
