Coding Challenge #1

Postby Darksun » Sat Oct 16, 2004 7:07 pm

OK, I'm going to run some simple coding challenges. You can use whatever language you want.

The first challenge is to make a program that will take an integer as input and test if it is happy or not. If you don't know what that means, you'll have to look up Happy Numbers on the internet.

I'll be awarding points for solutions that impress me - ingenious solutions, small solutions, something written in an esoteric programming language - that type of thing.

Email the source of your solution, and if possible, a windows compiled binary, with some details about your solution. Send it to my gmail account, nuskradATgmail.com. Try and annotate your code - it's always a good habit.

I'm going to give a week for entries, but if you don't think that is long enough, tell me and I may extend it.

Good luck.

Why does everyone on this forum have to be a coder in their spare time, or work in IT departments, or have a degree in Computer Science, etc.?

WHERE ARE ALL THE NORMAL PEOPLE?!
Let's kick this bitch into overdrive.

No, it actually provided 2 things:
1) You can't code
2) you won't enter

And you logically derrived the 2nd from the 1st. I'm sure you can do better than that! :P

Even if you can't code, you could still have a go scripting something. I'd actually be quite impressed if someone manages to do it in one of those Gamemakers software, or in mIRC script.

I'll have a go in php, if I have the time, or if I should be doing something more important.
