Graphics card went combluee(not literally, but figuratively)
Whil I was playing a farcry the graphics started to get all messed up, so I decided to update the driver. As the page said I unistalled my old driver, and downloaded the new one. When I clicked to install the new one it copies all the temporary files just fine, then goes and starts installing and then says
'Setup failed to run installation: The remote proceddure call failed.'
In one of those little warning boxes. Here's all my system specs. I have an ATI radeon 9800 Pro (it's my first time updating graphics cards, so if its obvious ) I have no idea what any of that means Thanks if you can help
[Edit: Clarified the title ]

Well, it's not cause the card's exploded due to Farcry or anything. If it had exploded the driver would install but you wouldn't actually see anything on the monitor.
Anyone, I'm gonna google for stuffs to help, if you promise to play a better game than Farcry. Like Doom 3. Or Half-Life.
You aren't in luck. According to google, no one has posted about an RPC error while installing ATi drivers, not even you. I'm an nVidia fanboy and devoted user, so no help here. Wait for some more helpful and generous UKers to wake up!

I've rebooted and ran a virus scan (I found my first virus ever , a trojan!) but it still didnt work, so I just reinstalled everything to get it back to the way it used to be so I can play my games again. But FarCry is all blue now . And MarcusHess2 I never really like Half-Life, but hopefully Half-Life 2 will be better. But I looked up what a remote procedure call was and it said 'An interprocess communication method that allows an application to run specific parts of the application on more than one computer in a distributed computing environment.' and why would updating a driver need to communicate with others

I disabled Norton and Zone-Alarm, along with everything else that's not necesary, but with no luck . The wierd thing is, after I get the error I can still see wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-03-040610a-016126c.exe and Setup running in the task manager, as a process not a program after I close the error message. Does anyone else here have an ATI card that they have updated recently?
Speaking of graphic cards - I have an ATI card (Radeon 9600XT, to be exact) on my brand new Athlon 64 3000+. And it's kinda problematic. First, it crashed the computer every time I tried to run a 3d game. On Splinter Cell, it lived for a few minutes, and on Generals it crashed on the second the main menu loaded.
We reinstalled allt he drivers, and it was better. It still crasehd from time to time, but not as often.
Lately it began it all again - it began crashing when I played Sacrifice (which doesn't exactly sport the most advanced graphics available), and it also began crashing every time you scroll quickly in the Word (yes, it does sound weird). So my father took it tob e replaced; meanwhile the comp Athlon 64 3000+ is stuck with some old shit, that has a max resolution of 800X600...
