im back from my travels.

Postby sweaty bob » Tue Apr 20, 2004 10:47 am

After being told about the forum move to phpBB by miah help me man or whatever on my mobile phone over msn when i was in sri lanka i think :?:

but the forums didnt look as good as it were but i think i will get used to it and get to like it more as time passes while i was on holiday i jumped in to all the shops looking for a copy of pc gamer and all there were was American PC Gamer and that sucked :( but now ive read the review and it looks "strange" but it looks ok i didnt like the sound of the name that much at first but now it is growing on me.

just a recap of were i went.

well i went on holiday :D i went to dubai then to sri lanka then to singapore.

now i would like to tell you a bit about each place from my view.

Dubai: dubai was a big building site they are re-building the whole place massive huge buildings are being built up and most of the buildings that exsist there atm are huge great arutecture (cant spell it) the hotel was great nice swimming pool with own private beach really hot aswell about 33 degress.

sri lanka: this country is poor very poor the roads are a state takes 3 hours to drive to some where it would take someone in the uk half a hour! wild dogs every where just lieing in the streets rubbish just gets put out on the side of the road. things are very cheap there very very cheap! 33p for a bottle of coke in the hotel bar and alchol is extremly cheap. but this place on my travels was my most favourite place it wasnt the country it was the hotel the people in the hotel were very friendly i i stayed up all night with them pising about behind reception turning the lights on and off the hotel. and going with this man to check the hotel rooms after people have checked out etc . at night it is so quiet all you can hear is the churping of the crickets etc. hopefully if we can afford it we will be going back ther.

singapore: shops shops shops if you have lots of money great go there. i didnt enjoy singapore as much as the other two places.
we were staying on a island called sentosa everything on the island was very expensive in the hotel its was s$11 (11 singapore dollars) for a beer which is like £3.50 i think!
i bought a digital camera there got the camera and a 64mb card 233 pounds while in the uk its 380 pound just for the camera.

the flights the inflight entertainment was great some good films the games were good too.

i would like to tell you all about what i did i saw etc but you lot dont give a fuck i suspect :D

Was the hotel you stayed at on sentosa the Shagri-La one? I stayed there a couple of years ago, it's a great place. The best thing about Singapore is the food, it was awesome!

It's a great hotel, but everything is a bit expensive... and alcohol is expensive anywhere in Singapore....

Did you notice the 'no chewing gum allowed' signs in Singapore? =)

That's good to hear, sweaty bob, nice to know you enjoyed your stay there. If you enjoyed Sri Lanka so much, then it would be an honor to invite you to go to my mother country Philippines next time. I can assure you it's a lot cleaner and the prices as cheap as Sri Lanka.

You can stay in a very comfortable private resort complete with all amenities for only 15 pounds a night. One very tasty and generous meal at that place, including beer, will cost you 3~3.5 pounds. The resort has its own gym, swimming pool, prayer chapel, karaoke, pool table, restaurant, internet & wine bar.

Really. How can I be sure? I was just there last week, from Thursday to Sunday. Made it back to Korea in time for work Monday morning. :)

You can check out the place if you like at www.rockpointhotel.com.

I'm glad you had a good trip Sweaty Bob.
And what's the purpose of no chewing gum allowed?

Because the Singaporean government deemed that chewing gum causes too much nuisance and trash on the streets, the cleaners have a hard time removing them. Added the fact that the temperature there can sometimes be enough to cook raw eggs on the side of the streets, it only takes a matter of time for spitted gum to harden like cement. That is why they banned it. Get it?

when i was in a mall in singapore i walked past a chemist and i looked at there was this sign saying "Chewing gum is back but only for smokers" so they may be bringing it back in but not to everyone.

Smoking is banned in public places in singapore but by the word public i thoght everywhere including walking down the streets but its only in like resturants bars shopping malls and places like that.

Sounds like a good policy to me. I can't stand the smell of smoke.

Well here in Ireland smoking in any workplace, ie pubs, offices, restraunts, hotels etc has been banned outright. You can now only smoke at home, on the street or in your car. It's a wonderful thing in my opinion. You can now breathe in a pub, which is a vast improvement. I kinda feel sorry for those who still smoke, I used to but gave it up, but why should non smokers in any building have to put up with the shit that is in cigarettes?
