Convert the music files?

Postby FatedStranger » Fri Apr 09, 2004 3:24 am

Anyone know of a program, or way, of converting the .uni music files to anything like .wav, .mp3, etc, etc? I'm playing them right through MikWin, but it'd be nice to have them as another music file.

This has been queried before, though for the life of me I can't remember where. Now since we moved to new forums I'm not sure all of the old topics transfered over. so your best bet is to do a search on the forums here, or failing that use Google to see if there is a file converter out there somewhere.

I tried that, but as usual when it comes to these forums (I'm part of another forum, uses the same format, likely is provided by the same host), but couldn't find anything other than MikWin, which allows you to play the files in Windows.

well if you can get them to play then you could use something like total recorder to save that sound straight to an mp3.

AFAIK, the forum can only search through topics made after the change, the older ones cannot be searched. :)

TnegA, use either KaZaa or Shareaza to download total recorder 5 full, it's what I did. And does anyone know of any programs better than TR that does the same thing? TR can only record to mp3 half rate :(

Well, here's some .s3m versions of the music files. Might make converting a bit easier, or since winamp plays s3m anyway, you could just stick to it.

This is a good site. Has loads of little progs to convert stuff.

I have the tools (at home) to convert the .uni files to .mod, then to .mid or something along those lines... When/If i get home ill post what they are :D

.mod to .mid? Ouch...

.mid uses a predefined set of instruments/sounds rather than samples included with the file...it would sound pretty nasty if .mod was converted to .mid.. =|
