is there a way to use patches (money patch) on modded games who's user files have different extensions than .usr?

Like the FBI mod?

I'm not sure, you could try it. Just make sure you have a backup first.

If the format hasn't changed then you can. If the modder made and significant changes to the save code then definitely not.

I don't know. . . Depending on how the specific patch works and what changes have been made to the usr file you might be able to. You could always try and see if it works. :)

well, the only way the patch would work was on a .usr file, so i just changed the extension, applied the patch, then changed it back to .fbi. it did not work, unfortunately. maybe some lonesome coder will find a solution someday. personally, i havent got the know-how.

.fbi user files dont work with any other Mods.
This was done deliberately By me so I did not have to deal with people reporting bogus errors to me if they had tried to use an FBI user with "Regular Uplink"...
To tell the truth I can treally see why you would want to anyway?....
