Yes, it did, the earth was created about 2 Billion yearsa go from gas clouds and the such.
Back to the subject, adriac, i 'think' because of certain patterns in the brain are active (i will not go deep in this yet again). soul is something humans made up to capture some of the obvious complexity of the human mind.

humans were created as they are currently (about) 50,000 - 80,000 BC

Well, erm, I'm not sure how to write this without really insulting hackerboys beliefs but I'm afraid this may need to be done. So in advance I apologise for the tone this takes, and if Chris or Icepick feels the need to edit this post in someway please feel free to.

hackerboy: You beliefs are your own, and you indeed are entitled to them, but to believe that evolution is a lie and the earth is only 6000 years old is not only the height of stupidity, but it gives anyone who follows whatever religion you are part of a bad name.

Evolution has been proved by science by checking over the fossil record, and even just within our own species by examining minor changes over the past 1000 years. It has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, and can be proven over and over again many times, just go to a museum.

Now your arguement for the age of the globe is horribly incorrect. 6000 years ago the Pyramids where being built, 7000 years ago Newgrange was built in Ireland, by druidic celtic people, whose religion outdates any form of chrisitanity by over 4000 years. The earth is over 4 billion years old, as can be proven by detailed geological studies and the universes age can be also be checked by detailed astrophysical examinations. Now these exact amounts of time can of course be debated, as I for one don't think we have them exactly correct, but the figure of 6000 years is ludicris.

This may insult you, or it may not, but to debate two proven facts, that are as tangible as the rock beneath your feet is beyond contempt. I don't have faith in these facts, I know them to be true for having studied science my entire life. Just as you say God is real, well I have yet to see proof, but that is a leap of faith, and as a scientist I cannot make it.

Yeah I'm afraid hackerboy has rather left himself open to this one.  I too am happy with other ppl feeling they believe in God etc. etc. but to deny proven fact simply because it makes for uncomfortable questions is risible.  This dogmatic adherence to certain religious text and thought is the first rung towards serious fundamentalism.  How strong can your faith be if you do not open your eyes to the world.  If you accept the facts of geological, historical and biochemical evidence as opposed to Bishop Usher and you can still believe in God then your faith will surely have been strengthened.  If it makes you doubt well then welcome to the real world where we'd all like a nice easy solution to all the metaphysical questions but then that would be rather too easy.

I leave with a Douglas Adams quote:  "It is said that when man figures out what the universe is for, it will instantly vanish and be replaced by something infinitely more complex, there are some who say this has already happened."

hmm, "A man is wise, in knowing he knows nothing." that is the way to sum up the complexity of the universe.
