Hello.
I've just started playing uplink yesterday [and it really got me hooked :P] and got caught for the first time a couple of minutes ago [got too greedy and instead of just tracing a money transfer got something for myself from the traced account ;P]

So there goes the question: is there a posibility to 'loadgame' eg get back to the state from before this mission? Or is it like the roguelike games - no turning back?

It is designed to be "no turning back" game.  However you can cheat this by making a copy of the .usr file in the Uplink\users directory.  :)

Heh, didn't do that, so I guess I'll be starting from zero again (not that I got far :P )

And I guess I won't copy the user file... I like the 'thrill' feeling :)

Try to improve your "covering up methods" so you won't get caught, that's part of the fun ;)
Made you look!

They traced me even before I managed to connect to any of the routers to erase my logs :P

This means you did not delete the right things, usually.

Remember, there are 3 types of logs here that can get you into trobule...

Read the FAQ for what these three types are...

Yeah, ok, I admit it is cheating, but backing up your usr files is really the only way to try out new things and experiment with hacks. It really isn't funny to work on a game for a month and then get it destroyed, even if they do want that "no turning back feeling".
I think therefore I am.
