The simple answer to the 'I get bored of answering the same old questions all the time' issue is, don't answer them then. There are plenty of people around here willing to help. If you dont want to reply to the same questions all the time, then don't. Simple.

If, like Darksun said, someone asks something that is covered in the ingame tutorial, just point out the fact, and tell them they can run the tutorial whenever they like from their software menu.

And also, I've finished both sides of the storyline before ;)

There have always been two 'storylines'. Well, two sides anyway.

... and I've done them both too. ;)

Probably because they will have 20 odd pages to look through, and the answer to each question is:

Okay, here's my take on this:-

-I admit that sometimes I can be rather mean to n00bs <a term that can be derogatory but I don't mean it like that usually and I do not intend to stop using it because some people think it is derogatory>.
But also, I do try to help.
In some cases, helping them is fine, but only when they are not filling certain criteria.
If they come onto the forum as a huge fiery ball of egocentricness <that's a word?!> then I do not intend to help, I might even flame them;

eg "all right u losers, tell me how the fuck this works before I whup all your asses!"

Or, if they spell everything wrong and make no effort to make it legible <exception if English is not their first language>

eg "hwoDo i us thrisfeetur?"

Or if they use loads of abbreviations and 1337.

eg "5up? |-\0w d0 u u53 di5?"

Or expect a reply within seconds and post complaining how no one is replying after 10 minutes.

A few other things annoy me, like when n00bs ask something in the wrong forum, are told politely that it is the wrong forum and then go on to say something like "I can post wherever I like dickface!".

If they ask a question and say, "Maybe I misunderstood, but I can't find an answer to this anywhere, I've had a quick search and checked some guides, but I still need help."

One more thing, though I try to stop myself, questions about the voice analyser. They are almost always ridiculously retarded.

I completed the game with no help <though I did bug everyone for the gamebible password!> and I can't understand really how some aspects are so difficult.

In conclusion, be nice to n00bs, as long as they try to be polite and are nice to you.

Oh and I don't see anything wrong with telling them the rules and things on their first posts so as to prevent annoying spam. People don't usually learn unless someone points out their mistake, but the way it is pointed out needn't be hugely insulting, unless it is like "I don't want to pay anything to those fucktards IV, gimme uplink free NOW".

This took a while to write so it porbably rambles and contradicts itself, but hey, I'm only inhuman.

I don't generally flame anyone (sometimes I do disagree strongly with them and their character and point that out, but that is generally only with veterans), but I don't think it is too awful to have a little fun with some of the new members who ask silly questions.  I find this infinitely more rewarding than flaming and it lightens up the boards rather than bringing them down.  Multimonitor and voice analyser threads are prime candidates for this treatement.  Anyway I also do try to nicely correct errors made in posting (ie wrong forum, bad title, leet, grammer/typing, etc) as it is very effective most of the time.  :)

I usually don't flame, unless it's really obvious that the person is trying to cause throuble in every possible way, and I agree with Stews: A little inferno now and then lightens up the atmosphere.

And the Image has gone back considerably, too, compared to the true "deep" times of the forums.

I have to say, I have never had a go at someone enw when they post something silly. Such as "How does the voice analyser work?" But thats because I don't believe that one should treat people in a way in which one does not want to be treated themselves. Everyone asks dumb questions.

I did not mean to flame people.  But I think it is constructive to play around with them, in a nice way, with their question.  It just turns into friendly banter.  :)
