Best console?

Super Nintendo! Everyone loves Yoshi  and of course Super Mario. And Final Fantasy. And Bahamut Lagoon and Chrono Trigger!

I've always loved my PS2 lol It's got some really good games. It's got some really horrible ones too but they are mostly good. The difference between Nintendo and PS2 is that Nintendo take aaaages to realease a game but when they do it's usually class. PS2 produce games by the bucket load with a few good in each!

I do have to point out that X-Box have spent tens times more advertising the actual console and Microsoft have lost money in the process. PS2 GAMES are advertised a lot because there are more but the companies advertise these, not Sony. If the X-Box is so good how come it has sold less then the PS2 had by this point even when they dropped the price. However I like the GameCube and it is the real contender to Sony's crown. However I still predict that Sega will merge with Sony (Sony pretty much own them now anyway), which will blow away Nintendo and Microsoft.

I like a lot of the PS2 games (I own a PS2).  The GameCube also looks really good (Even if it is generally targetted at younger gamers doesn't mean the games aren't good, just means no GTA for gamecube :)), and the XBox also looks pretty good.  They all cover slightly different market segments.

But there can be only one true best console.  Original Pong :D

Slow down now, and listen.
Retro---Games---Can---Easily---Be---Beaten---By---Todays.
Pong would (and did) only keep me occupied for an afternoon. Halo has kept me occupied for seven months, Uplink for 5. Asteroids was 3 hours work to beat the entire high score table. Jusat because something was amazing when it came out, it doesn't mean that we should worship it as a god. And about there being many good ASCII games, most of them were proberbly the forefront of graphics when they came out. I own an XBox, and it serves me as good as my (still working) NES did when it came out.

Sales figures don't say anything - just because the PS2 sold more doesn't make it better - it just proves the point that the general public are stupid.
The Gamecube is aimed at younger and older gamers - there's no gta on gamecube as nintendo doesn't have a license to make a version on Gamecube as they couldn't get it. How come there are two resident evil games for Gamecube then?
I predict that Sony will buy out everyone eventually and reign supreme, just because most people don't even think of any other consoles apart from PS1 and 2.

I personally rather like Gamecube. A good friend of mine has one; Smash Brothers is fun.

There are still hundreds of text based games being created _today_.

Games like liero, escape velocity, and subspace have a charm and replay value that makes them worth hundreds of hours (In liero's case, only if you play against people). I know people that have played subspace for years, and still haven't become bored with it.

Uplink is a very gameplay-over-graphics game, so it fits into the catagory of 'small charming game'.

Then again many people play games like Morrowind, Unreal Tournament, etc for days on end as well.  A good game is a good game reguardless of its graphics.  :)

i only read up to like the 5th post or somethin where the person started trahin x-box, well i have to vote for the xbox, why becuase of its versatility, i got bored of switching games all the time so i ripped apart the xbox added a larger harddrive a new boot bios and an ftp program, now i have all my games stored on the 180gb hard drive and never have to switch cds all i do when i buy a new game is rip the cd-dvd to my pc then ftp it to my xbox. and never have to touch teh game again, witch means when i get bored of it i can resell the game to local gamshop for quite a bit of money since game case and book are in perfect condition, so until you show me another console in wich i can do this i vote for xbox.

So I take it the majority of people on this forum regard Sony as a corporate shill and should burn in hell?  Corporate shill or not the console still rocks

it depends on what ur lookin for in a console to decide whether it should burn in hell or not,
1) Gamecube - games with good graphics and a wide variety of good-storylined games
2) PS2 - a practical home-entertainment system with a game system in it...widest variety of games, not the best graphics
3) XBOX - online play with losts of choices and up - and - comming home entertainment addons

it all depends on what ur looking for... so don't go about trashin other systems cause it don't float ur boat...
