i, the first party would like to start usin linux. but the first party dont know where to obtain said OS, where said OS refers to linux. what version of said OS is the best to use. would the first party have to pay for said OS or is the said OS offered free to download somewhere on the net, not refereng to warez. now you, the second party should feel free to answer any and all of the questions posted by the frist party.

With libraries... hmmmm.
First, identify what ones it needs that you don't have -- running ldd on it will tell you, as missing libraries should be flagged as 'not found'. Write 'em down.
For each, if you don't recognize it sufficiently well to figure out the package name, you'll need to try some searching. If you're using an RPM-based distribution, consider trying www.rpmfind.net -- apparently, it can search the 'provides' headers. For instance, a test search for libXaw3d.so.6 (shared library for the Athena Widget set for X11 Release 6) identifies the appropriate packages. A test search for libMagick.so.5 also succeeded.
Debian's packaging stuff almost certainly has at least as good capabilities. Gentoo's port system should also be searchable as well...
