You get disavowed either pathway, it just takes longer for Arun.
ARC - GrandTour - 2 hour (I think....) limit before getting disavowed. Then you will still get gameover
Arunmor - ARC will come back and frame you in a few months, nothing you can do, sorry, do not pass go.
If you can see this, start flailing about in wild panic.

They will eventually get you, and you can't do ANYTHING about it...

Don't work for Arunmor or ARC. There you go.
Spong - I live in the US. Heh. It depends really, a few months after the ARC people get released is when they frame you. You could nuke/revelate your comp, but that isnt any fun, now is it?

Well, this is new......

I was never disavowed by Uplink for choosing either sides....I get the mail telling that I was *snip* in their machines and then I got the other mail from Arunmor wanting the *snip*, offering me the reward. If you don't do anything at that point and complete the ARC mission, I was able to continue on normally.

Worked for Arunmor as well (I was using the Remote Gateway at that point, that might've helped)

But I was never disavowed for joining either side.
Then again, I haven't really played Uplink since the patch was out.....it just lost the thrill.

The subject of the ARC CEO getting released has been discussed before on thr forum and on IRC, but the general concensus (sp?) was that they probably didn't. After all, didn't the news say that they would get at least 8 years?

I completed the Arunmor missions (little goody-two-shoes that I am) and a few days later I was disavowed for breaking into a central mainframe, which I know I didn't, so I assumed that THAT was the ARC framing me. Luckily, I had a back-up copy made a few minutes after wiping out every copy of <snip> from the net, and I didn't get hasseled by the feds ever again (I'm too good :-)

The moral of this story? Hack a couple of banks while you can, so you can afford to blow up your gateway every now and again...

Are you SURE, Royston? After all, I know when you're trying to stop it, sometimes you HAVE to hack a mainframe to *snip* from the mainframe. Maybe you left logs and just didn't realize... myself, I've played through the Arunmor missions a few times, and YES, sometimes you do have to blow up your gateway, but I think it's the passive traces rather than getting framed. Best thing to do is take your money from the last mission and refit a Gateway.

I completed the whole of the Arunmor side of the storyline missions, and i didn't get framed by ARC. I didn't even need to nuke my gateway. I made sure that all my logs were deleted (by just going to InterNIC and destroying every log in sight :)) I just sat there thinking what can i do (read destroy) next.

If u decide to do the ARC side of the missions, then

*SPOILER*

the game is always going to end. As u either lose and get caught or:

*MAJOR SPOILER*

u destroy the internet and therefore the game has to end as u know have nothing to hack.

EDIT: And i do know what i'm talking about as i have done both sides of the missions several times, though the ARC was definitely much harder. ;)

No, no difference in the patch.

(This is an old thread - did you really need to 'reincarnate' it? ;))
