Why don't we all get together and arrange an Uplink Convention? Kind of like one of those big Star Trek conventions only much better! It would be great to meet everyone who's been posting here.

Im afraid itd cost too much to get there for most of us, and some live in other countries, and theres not many of us, and even less that would want to go, and (so on and so on)

Sorry, but its a good idea

Would be dreadfully expensive... tho actually, nowadays, ryanair has rather affordable prices on their airline tickets... that covers a little bit of europe at least... not sure about people in us or other countries, but such an event would probly take place in GB...

but, as to organizing the thing, I wouldnt touch it with a 100 ft pole... with gloves on.

not that I could anyway, 'cause, like, a 100 foot pole is, like, what? 30? 33 ? meters... I'm not sure it would be very easy to lift at all......

but i digress
What does this mean to you? Does it mean we won't get through? As if you don't know what to do.
And then he died...

Yeah, you guys are probably right. It was just an idea... a sudden flash of inspiration. It would probably never work.

What would you do at an Uplink convention, it's not like there would be much to talk about, esp. of that which hasn't been talked about before. I can't think of what would happen.
If you realy want to you could set up a chat room, somewhere on the net. It would be cool to meet some of the people here tho...

having read some of the "flame wars", there is also the danger of it turning into one big scrap...

It would be good i everyone could make it though... i'd like to meet some of you guys in person...some of you sound quite interesting. Chris could come as well and we could all meet him too. If someone rich could pay for it all then it would be f**kin amazing... but with no money it's just a great idea that will sadly never happen.

That would be......chaos. Icepick and sibn would start arguing about something random and then they would end up trying to kill each other, while destroying nearby tables at the 'con. Then I would be neutral and get dragged into it (wielding a katana). and I would be tried in a murder trial.
If you can see this, start flailing about in wild panic.

Organizing it wouldnt be that bad, there probably are enough of us that two or three adjoining hotel rooms would be sufficent...

Maybe we should it at some common 'con... like GenCon or DefCon...

Yeah, you're right. I certainly wouldn't want to finance it!. Its just a shame it could never happe, as it would be a great day for all of us to unite as one (in an alcohol fuelled frenzy) and meet all the other uplinkers we spend our lives posting to :)
