Hello, Wardens! As someone who relies heavily on exports such as beds and license plates for income, I happen to notice that there are times where the workmen are too busy to move them along to the exports area, and just sit in the five workshops I've built.
My idea is that you will be able to build a new room called a Depot. For every prisoner assigned to the Depot, they will help carry exports such as logs, plates, and beds and will leave them inside the depot (for the workmen to pick up later) or they can even carry the objects directly to the export zone. Not only is it cheaper than just hiring MOAR WERKMAIN, but it'll provide another job for prisoners to be assigned to, which will help speed up the process of exporting goods without the need to hire additional workmen.
[Suggestion] Have prisoners help move exports!

Re: [Suggestion] Have prisoners help move exports!
My experience has been that they already work the Deliveries and Exports. They will pick up food (I want to also say sheet metal but I am not 100%, going from memory) and drop off workshop finished goods. Mind you, this only supplements the cooks/workmen and does not replace them (they're slower and less efficient); nor is it easy - the zones absolutely must be secured and allow access to the prisoners; contraband detection is extremely recommended at the entrance. Not everyone does this for obvious reasons, which does provide some merit to your idea; a single pickup/drop-off point inside a more secure area. However, as I said, they already do perform these tasks.
I do not recall if they handle other goods, such as shop items, food trays, uniforms, etc. I'll look again, time permitting. I know they do not handle building materials (concrete, grass, trees etc.) or components (lights, toilets, weight benches, TVs, etc.) in any way.

They do, don't they, just that it needs to be secure and marked as "Shared"

Uniforms, food, sheet metal, logs and food trays yes. Shop items no. Going off my head 'cause I was just playing like half an hour ago.czar mohab wrote:My experience has been that they already work the Deliveries and Exports. Maybe it's because I'm playing on an Alpha 34 save file, but I have yet to notice prisoners assisting workmen like you described. So that's why I made the suggestion.
