I, personally, don't like the idea of individualizing the guards. I don't want to deal with the micro. I think it would tell a very different story. I don't think it would actually add anything to the game other than needless complexity. Other people in this topic suggested that it was overkill on the micro; I gave a different point of view. I don't see how that derails the topic. It seems quite on-topic, to me.

But it's a game about micromanagement!

If you say so.

Also the hypocrisy of the argument about derailing is so thick you could cut it with a shiv

Me: I don't like too much micro. I don't think that more micro should be added.
You: Nuh-uh! The game is all about micro!

We clearly disagree on that point. You have asserted that your point of view is the only valid point of view. What more is there to say?

No, what I was saying is that the argument went from being about guards to being about derailing, thus derailing the topic

If you are so worried about the topic being derailed, perhaps you shouldn't reply to things that you feel are off-topic. Since you are so worried about everything being on-topic:

I don't like the idea of individualized guards. Individualized guards would add complexity to the game without (so far as I can see) actually making the game significantly better; individualized guards would require quite a bit more micromanaging, which I don't want to do; and I like that the narrative emphasis is on the prisoners. These are the same three points that I brought up before. Your entire response consisted of "But it's a game about micromanagement!" I'll reiterate my previous response: If you say so. Obviously, you disagree. Is there something that you want to add to your previous response, or do you want to call me a hypocrite again? (Note: I'm not the one complaining about the topic being derailed; I am merely disagreeing with you.)

Guards with names? Nah, adds too much for me. I don't think there is any logical reason behind this

I'm just saying that it's funny that this thread is being derailed by talking about derailing

STOP IT!!! :D :D :D
-I've tried looking into the dialogs packages in the 'game.zip', Sadly the dialogs I was looking for seem obfuscated  (Left out on purpose.)

Still there's the unused tooltip option on all workers, so I guess that's where I'll start stuffing in randomized names.
It shouldn't be too hard to suss-out what gender an entity is, not that the modding api gives any decent 'hooks' for determining staff (sprite) gender...
But checking the sprite orders and putting them in a 'struct' should be sufficient; It would be foolish to give a bloke a galls name (too often)!

No real added involvement (or micro-management) to it sadly :( I would have loved to be able to clearly label every worker, so you would start to recognize them and go... ahhw, 'Bill' just got whacked! :x

There I hope I served yalls apatites enough to fuel another heated discussion

Edit: Anyone wanna 'upgrade' to name in the staff roster?

It's my birthday and I'll die as a guard if I want to.

Also aren't all the workmen male or have I not been staring at them for long enough

Haven't you been feeling the sexual tension between 1/4 and ~3/4 of the guards, workmen, janitors, gardeners, cooks, doctors (50/50!)?

It's subtle but even 1 in 4 armed guards and dog handlers are female! (*if the spawn randomizer isn't on the fritz)

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a Sprite for female armed guards but now I remember seeing female workmen, I noticed female guards awhile ago. Also if fleshing out of guards occur I wonder if female guards will treat rapists like cop killers and just beat them to death... That would be great.

Edit: Also my comment about it being my birthday wasn't a lie

Hey! Congratz hope it was a good one!

There are 4 different Sprites for armed guards an 4 for doghandlers.... ! Of those 4 one in both types has distinct eyes/makeup... It's a minimal tell, but I'm 100 sure; I have the sprites from the game preloaded over semi transparent grid in my imaging software (so I can more easily pinpoint positions in the sprites, so I can reference them in my mods). (And sometimes I look at the artwork real close to mimic or clone....)

Anyway, you wouldn't notice from bodyshpae or hair in those 2!

I did make a small start in giving the staff names based on gender even... Just not randomized yet, and the name is only visible on hovering over a Staff member... a shame but, I'll probably finish it up (with a names randomizer) in the next couple of days :D

-> I did manage to finish my mod expanding crimes (for prisoners); http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=548224590 Please enjoy it!

Seems interesting- Really it does...but- it is PRISON ARCHITECT and... I just don't know how that would fit with guards having personalities.

Uh, Maybe they could do a Long-Term Supporter has a Face as a guard, with the Guard hat and Uniform in the game? :P nothing special- but neat...

Hi Gabriel!
-What 'that' do you mean?
-The second part just doesn't make sense to me at all!?
