[QUESTION] do old maps get all updated features?

Ive had the same map from alpha 20 something and now playing on alpha 35 - however I've noticed certain features that have come out since and havent made an appearance in this map. For example drug overdosing - I started a new map and straight away overdosing became an issue - in my old map this feature just isn't there! Do the maps update with all the new features or do you need to create a new map to see these features?

I'm a bit surprised that you have managed to play from alpha 20 and not notice that things don't change lol. Since a large part of some changes take place in the save file and the it's the save that dictates how they work yes you will not get some of the new features from a new alpha's.

It's like watching a VHS video of starwars compared to a blueray of the same. It's the same movie, but things have improved.

I've got a save that I've run every alpha since... I think 15, and I've managed to get ever feature to run on it.

Have been playing and constantly improving the same massive prison since alpha 25, though I had to change the save file with the first gang update and I had to delete all the prisoners inside and replace them with new ones.
I haven't encountered any features missing since I obsessivly study each alpha and hunt it's features in the days following the release. (I love these updates... >:D)

As for the overdosing the OP talks about, maybe your first prison was very secure and nobody got addicted?
