Prisoners - Deployment by Cell Block

Postby Nsdq2017 » Tue May 26, 2015 1:51 am

Question, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
In a large Prison making multiple Max Sec. cell blocks, giving each their own yard, all the prisoners gather in one single yard. Would it be a possibility to assign/restrict prisoners to their cell block for things like this?
cheers.

Not really, I think. I also have a max sec prison with yards in each cell block. I avoid yard time completely and let them go to the yards in their freetime, were every yard is used..
It also would work if you had completely independent cell blocks with the main hall marked as "staff only". But then you will need chapel, library, canteen etc. in every cell block. This of course is really expensive and (in comparison to a centralized infrastructure) more complicated to manage.
Maybe you could try to solve this with door programming, but here the problem for me was that even when there is a remote door with door timer, prisoners and staff try to use locked remote doors unless you set it to "always closed" manually.

I'm building this kind of prison for about a while now (3+ months), and it really works quite well. It is max only prison, with 4 wings separated by central hallway that is staff only (supermax maniacs have their own wing; as do PC, far outside of the main prison). I also use as much space as available meaning there are almost no hallways(or as little as possible) between structures. In that case prisoners are staying in their wings. (they are only escorted when they are going on parole or going in solitary, despite the fact that they also got 3 parole rooms per wing and solitary cell wing.

Every wing has chapel, library, classroom, visitation, infirmary etc. There are also "subwings" of cell blocks; so two subwings share same stuff but are divided so i have more control of tunneling and patrols. Around 450+ inmates at the moment, 1 wing is still empty tho. Had 2 deaths in 100 days of prison, and those two were snitches before i had decent CI's to separate them accordingly. Reoffending rate is at 10%.

It's funny how you dodged the yard time while in my case yard time is the central part of my regime and my planning area. Yard is where inmates get out of their prison cell blocks, from where they go to in the canteen to minimize time travel; to work as laundry/cc/kitchen/workshop are nearby. Where i collect them after work for metal detector and dog searching. Freetime is only 1 h per day before dinner and only because of literacy need; I don't like it as they disperse too much for my taste :)

p.s.
the issue TS is mentioning is the reason for my post/suggestion
