Parole Rooms and Security Levels

I have a large prison (some 700+ prisoners) that is completely broken up to divide the prisoners by security levels. Each classification (low, normal, high as well as Protected Custody and Super Max) has it's own section separated by staff only pathways. Each section has a full compliment of rooms (workshops, classrooms, canteens, cleaning cupboards, parole rooms, etc) so there is no mixing once they have passed through Reception.

I have multiple parole rooms per classifications, and sufficient program slots to allow them all to be used. I see lots of prisoners being paroled and earn a fare share of cash doing so. Here is my question:

I often see a guard escorting prisoners to parole room not assigned to their classification. Typically what happens is once they arrive the guard leaves them in the room and the prisoner just leaves the room and finds their way out of the block and back to one appropriate to their classification. Is this a bug or are parole rooms not meant to be restricted to a particular security classification?

Assuming that you have assigned a security level to the parole rooms themselves too this sounds like a bug.

If this just happens when loading up the prison, that is due to the fact that security levels are not initialized before the prison starts moving.

its a bug.

I assume that there is no security level check for parole rooms.

Remember the security levels get screwed up every time you remodel, but it does sound like a bug. I've never had prisoners escorted to the parole room, though. They always go there on their own (and then kill the parole officer when they get denied).

Yeah, any security levels for parole rooms are being ignored at the moment. This has been reported after alpha 30 was released: http://bugs.introversion.co.uk/view.php?id=7987

I don't think this is intended. I find this to be undesirable as it is very labour intensive for the prison guards due to the unnecessary prisoner escort jobs. You wrote that they leave the room by themselves. I've never seen that happen. In my case the prisoners are also being escorted back to their cell if parole is denied. Only when released they walk out the prison by themselves.

I've seen them actually have the parole meeting as well as simply walk out.

At least it is a reported bug. And yes, quite labor intensive; especially with my 700+ Prison...

The only thing I've been able to fix in regards to them using specific parole rooms, was making the death row appeals be in the room next to death row. But it required going through all the parole rooms in my programs list to figure out which room was the one I wanted, and then manually schedule the appeals for that room. I have no classification for that room, it's just that only DR prisoners have appeals, so they're the only ones that go there.

There is however no way to do anything similar with the normal parole hearings, because of the issue mention above, where security levels are ignored.

Don't know if it makes a difference that I have normal (brown) doors in my parole rooms. I just got sick of needing guards to constantly go open the doors when I run 12 hearings a day.
