Inmates not being punished
So I got the game and it worked fine for a while I now have 70 prisoners. The prisoners are starting to misbehave and destroy things. When they destroy things all that happens is a guard comes and tazes them then leaves. Nothing else happens. I put in policy they get solitary for 6 hours yet all that happens is a taze then the inmate goes back to normal. How do I fix?

If you upload the save game file we can take a look, hard to advise otherwise.

I've been seeing the same thing with destruction, but also with fights between prisoners. Sometimes if they get instantly tazed they'll just sit there for a while until the tazed effect wears off and then go about their business.

Obligatory Silly Question #1:
Do you have Solitary cells?

Similar thing happened in my prison today. Inmate killed his Parole officer. Nothing happened to him apart from being sent to his cell. I had my policies set for solitary, yet he was sent to his cell even though I had 20 Solitary Cells of which 18 were free. I do find it strange that an inmate can kill someone whilst inside and only get sent to there cell. Maybe implement a policy of the Death Penalty for murder whilst inside.
Re: Inmates not being punished
I believe it is caused by the inmate not being seen to commit the crime, so they don't get punished. Except the decision about whether they are seen or not seems messed up.
So badly so that in some cases an inmate won't be punished for punching a guard in the face as somehow the crime went undetected. Even stranger is that if they get caught commiting a crime later on, the original crimes they commited are suddenly known and they get punished for them.

Currently they don't get punished for killing parole officers, priests, and similar characters that were implemented with the last few alphas. Believe it is a bug (or oversight) in that the penalty/sentencing system wasn't updated to cover everything that was added over the last several months,
As for having a policy that allows for death penalty: No. Absolutely not. Our job as players is to run the prison, nothing else. We're not there to make decisions like who should live or die. The game has a "judge" built in - the one that gives prisoners 50 years more every time they kill someone. The system just needs to be updated so prisoners can get sentenced to death instead of just getting more and more time in your prison. Oh so this!
I really dislike having to keep a prisoner around that racks up years and years for killing his fellow inmates and prison staff. We need an in game mechanism to move these career criminals and serial murders to Death Row; one that does not involve manually editing the game and that happens automagically.

The game currently automagically upgrades prisoners to max when they kill someone. The logical step is then to have them up'ed to death row if they keep doing it. Since the game runs in its own arbitrary little universe with unspecified laws, I think it's only reasonable for them do get sent to death row at some point if they don't behave.
I have a record of over 500 years for one legendary prisoner because he had a tantrum every other day and kept killing the guards that went to bring him food in lockdown. Eventually all my armed guards decided to put a stop to him and that was it... but unless it's been changed without anyone mentioning it, then they can actually serve all those hundreds of years and then walk out of the prison.
