Hi there, Developers, and thank you so much for such an amazing game!
I was thinking it would add another level of detail/depth to the game if prisoners' cells became personalized/decorated over time in a manner similar to how the book shelves gradually fill up in the Library. The graphics wouldn't need to be complicated at all.
Such elements to include would be a few different randomized texture palettes of posters on the walls, pictures, cluttered magazines, toiletries and so on. You could have these build up in detail the longer a prisoner has been in that particular cell. Perhaps security level could dictate the whether or not this effect spawns at all?
I think back to the movie "Hurricane" where Denzel Washington willingly opts to stay in his cell for the duration of his incarceration. His tiny cell ends up crammed with a variety of amenities ranging from a writing desk, hanging laundry to even a small electric burner.
Thank you for your time!

Sounds like a cool suggestion. It would work really well if a prison commissary ever makes it into the game, and if we could pick which "luxury" items are acceptable and which are contraband.

More depth = More fun! Good idea.

+1 on this idea
Would be even cooler if it also reduced needs, so it's not just graphics and banning them from cells also have a downside. For example, magazines could satisfy recreation a small amount for every minute the prisoner is in his cell. With some creativity the prisoner could also turn certain items into weapons (giving you a reason to want to ban items in cells)

Great idea. It'd be cool to see a released inmate carting his stuff out in a box too and the cell reset to "clean."
Re: (SUGGESTION) Cell Personalization over Time
The only issue I see with that is prisoners change cells constantly. They would need to have permanent cell assignments for the duration of their stay or life in the prison.
Re: (SUGGESTION) Cell Personalization over Time
I thought that PA, unlike Sim City, tracks which cell each prisoner owns and has them return to the same one each time.

Not if the inmate goes to solitary. I know that for a fact cuz I've seen it. I just forgot about it when reading this thread.

Too bad it isn't this way. Because of this, when my prison goes into work mode, i have prisoners go to other sides of prison to work their stuff, despite the thing that there is workshop/kitchen/cc nearby. Thus losing precious time walking the distance.
Re: (SUGGESTION) Cell Personalization over Time
Prisoner do retain ownership of a cell when the leave it for any other reason tho - if they just had them reserve the cell when they were in solitary it would work. It seems as it is solitary is just treated as another cell that they are being transferred to.
Re: (SUGGESTION) Cell Personalization over Time
I don't mind a prisoner loosing his cell when he went to solitary because I have a holding cell too. A prisoners from the holding cell will move into the now free cell and the prisoner will go to the holding cell when he gets out of solitary. It's like an extra punishment for them.
