[Suggestion] Walk/Stand lines

Postby Merum » Wed Apr 15, 2015 9:06 pm

In the military, prisons, and other applications, a painted line or footsteps on the floor have been used to either suggest or, depending on the situation, demand that people follow the line, or line up on the line. Directionality is indicated with arrow markers, orientation of footprints, or colors. Color can also be used to show different routes or separate groups of people into different lines.

Example:
___________________________________
----------------<------------------------<---------------
---------------->------------------------->-------------
____________________________________

In the prison context, this would provide a discipline/control system, and in the PA context, would really help with pathfinding. If desired, enforcing "line following" could provide a small hit to freedom, as it is quite restrictive.

I could see this being implemented much in the same way as patrol patterns are implemented now, although I'd like to be able to see the lines on the floor, as opposed to the guard patrols being invisible outside the deployment screen.

Just a thought.

https://youtu.be/AomWRTqpzS8 Follow the line reminds me of this film. I'd like these lines, especially colour coded based on security level of the prisoner.

I like this idea. Instead of having to use doors to section off a space, we can paint some red lines telling prisoners not to enter. They can if they want, but it will be risky for them.

This falls under a similar heading to my 'prisoners should be as to be barred from using doors even if they are allowed in the room on the other side' so as to be able to create staff entrances. They are prisoners, and I should be able to do dictate their movements with a decent degree of precision. The line idea would great for example, having a large yard area, but only allowing prisoners to use the central grassed area, and the reserving the edges for guard patrols (this way you could even get some armed guards within response distance, but far enough away to not be causing suppression, as well as keeping guards out of reach of the prisoners so if something does kick off the first they know of it isn't Johnny sticking a fork in their neck).

Agree. In rollercoaster tycoon, if I remember correctly, you could put signs that made a patch exit only, what de facto transform it on a one-way patch. I would like something like so on PA. Or at least, a "Staff only means staff only, so visitors please refrain from entering the prision thru the exit I made only to put exports on the road" button.
