Do dead dogs get replaced?

Had a guard dog die. Was wondering if the dog handler leaves or if the dog gets replaced.

Not 100% sure but i think it doesnt get replaced. If the dog handler leaves not sure either

If either Dog or DogHandler die or are fired, the other will immediately leave the game by walking down the road (the same way visitors leave).

You can test this by (a) firing one, or (b) editing the save file and adding "Damage 1.00" as a property to either.
