[Suggestion] / Fix - Dramatic speed increase with small edit

Hi all,

Sorry if this is a repost. I have searched and not found a similar thread.

I managed to decrease crashes in my game AND increase the speed with prison of 400+ by editing my save file to REMOVE contraband history.. which accounted for approximately 95% of the file size (160MB save down to about 5 MB)

You can easily do this with notepad++ look for "BEGIN contraband" log. I deleted the whole lot (headings and all) down to "BEGIN Tunnels" and the game seemed OK with this..

Prison appears to run as fast as new and autosave no longer crashes..

Yet another reason to implement something like the contraband heatmap suggested in this topic. I have added a note to #4793 indicating that this can cause crashes.

I think that option needs to go anyway. I never saw the point of capturing this history forever when the prison layout can change over time. I think anything over the last two weeks or so can just drop off the list completely.

Wow, i could delete around 564000 lines in my savefile. Now the save file is around 20 MB insteam of 74 MB.
So far i couldn't see a big FPS increase, but i've only teste it on my 6 years old computer (Intel Q6600, 4 GB ram and Nvidia GT 8800). I hope it has a bigger impact on my "new compuer)

Other way around, if the list of contraband becomes too long the game might crash because it costs too much memory to create the savegame

I wouldn't but it probably doesn't matter

I noticed this causes the your prison grading to reset as if no prisoners have ever been released. Make sure to backup the save file.

FPS doesn't increase that much (about 8 to 10) but it does seem to help
