Regime suggestion

Postby FAQ2chief » Wed Jun 18, 2014 6:48 pm

First, I love the separate regime for each sec. level, only suggestion is that if a prisoner doesn't need to satisfy a hunger demand can the revert to a "Lock up" state in the regime, much like if a prisoner doesn't have a job to do they go into "free time" mode?

Why?

Presently I like having them not in their cells because it gives me the opportunity to search a couple cell blocks.

I do my searching at yard time, just seems like it would add to the game, the prisoners wouldn't just stand in the middle of the canteen anymore making traffic less congested at serving tables and entrance/exit so all hungry prisoners will get to eat.

While I like the idea, I don't think it would be a very realistic thing to do. The reason you have a regime in a prison is not to keep the inmates happy, but so that you know where they are. If they don't want to eat they don't have to, but they need to be in the canteen so you can do headcounts and whatever secret prison business needs to be done elsewhere. The admin side would be way harder to handle with prisoners walking around the prison doing what they liked all the time :)

I guess it could work as an option though. Like a selection between "Idle = Lockup", "Idle = Free Time" or "Idle = Regime".

well having been to prison myself I can tell you first hand, if you aren't hungry you stay in your cell, they do not force you to go to the dinning hall.

Sounds interesting, could work like the 'work regime', if hungry go eat, if not free time. I can see this possibly making it easier to keep the prisoners fed.

I like that better. I don't have any yard time because prisoners settle yard based needs during free time so its seemed pointless to me. But, I like that idea ^

well bottom line is this, I would like to see the prisoners stay in their cell during any time in the regime when those needs of that prisoner do not need to be met. It is more realistic, in prison that is how it works. it's not game breaking or anything the way it is it is just more of a pain in the butt when I see a large group of inmates just standing in the middle of a room because they have gone into an idle state. I would rather have them in their cells.

I think combinations of regime options would be very usefull.
- work/free-time vs work/lockup (work is working or following programs)
- shower/free-time vs shower/lockup
...

But I would even expand this idea:
- shower/yard/lockup (prisoners can choose between shower, yard or stay in their cell)
- shower /yard (prisoners can take a shower or go to the yard. They aren't allowed to stay in their cell)
- work/yard/lockup (prisoners can work, follow programs, go to the yard or stay in their cell)
...

An extra regime option: visitation would be very usefull too. (or another way to set visitation hours per regime)

Ofcourse some combinations won't make sense:
- free-time/lockup are mutually exlusive

I would like to see this very much, actually, as it would be more comprehensive, and I would like to have that level of control over my prison.

This could go well together with another suggestion here on the forums: named cellblocks.
If you could name a few regions, you could assign those regions to the prisoner regime:
making an "Eat" regime with a CellBlockA region would mean he can do whatever is available in CellBlockA if he's not eating

That would be awesome! I enjoy running a strict prison from time to time, but I don't have everyone working, so the ones not working get 3 hours extra free time when the rest only get 1 hour while working! It'd be great to have it where the unemployed are in lockup or the yard. I definitely like the combination idea. Allows for a bit of freedom. :)

The combination idea sounds good. I would like to assign priority to them so that prisoners who want to go on education or training but who also have a job will be allowed to only work part time and be replaced by another prisoner for that time.
