[Suggestion] Prison Labor - Forestry

Postby cecilman_69 » Sat May 17, 2014 7:43 pm

Just a short one here, I think that having the prisoners work in forestry as an additional job placement would be better than having to hire more gardeners to increase productivity and turn-over times. A possible additional element added to the game by this would be chainsaws or hatchets being added to the contraband list.

Wow... You are really serious with giving the prisoners chainsaws and hatchets? :D This is asking for a bloody massacre right away... :P

But would make them much more lethal... currently the prisoners have no means of defending themselves effectively and are done for when your guards come with their tazers or you've armed guards deployed. That would make things more interesting again... :D

Other than that concerns I would like to be able to assign prisoners to at least plant the stuff and carrying the harvested logs to the workshops/export... Probably have a Ground Keeper added for research and that he/she teaches the prisoners in gardening... so they plant the trees and if there's nothing to do clean the other reachable outdoors like the yard.

A few minimum sec prisoners with an armed guard shouldn't be much of a problem. Hatchets and chainsaws would be difficult to smuggle after all.

A bunch of maximum sec prisoners from two rival gangs could lead to some good entertainment. :D

I believe this is an intended feature.

I dont believe this would be an issue. The prisoners could just take over the gardners tasks, ie the planting of trees. As it is security risk, the cutting down of trees could remain the sole responsibility of the workers.

The prisoners tasks in the 'forestry' could remain purely horticultural, the planting of trees, maintaining grounds or learning how to construct areas such as ponds or rock features. If thats not progressing too deeply into it ofcourse.

Sounds like a good idea, I think it will be pretty easy to add this into the game if they decide to as the mechanism underpinning the forestry is already in place. The contraband would be better as shovels to make better tunnels and escape the prisoners dig holes to plant the trees. I agree that realistically no prison guard would really stand there and let a prisoner loose with a chainsaw.... I wouldn't let them anywhere near one if I was in their way of getting out....
