Holding cell useless

Postby DarknessEyes » Thu May 01, 2014 4:45 pm

The holding cell is only usable when you have more inmates than cells...

To make them usable all the new inmates arriving at your prison should spend 24 hours in holding cell before they get assigned to a real cell.

I agree. I never had to use it so far.

Up until one of the more recent updates I used them all the time. I created a prison that was 'just' big enough to match the income/outgoing rate, and my holding cells where used to hold the excess that occasionally happened when I got a few big delivered of prisoners, but they emptied out when I had a few smaller delivery's in a row. Its a hell of a lot harder now that they upped the amount of time that a prisoner takes to serve his time.

Or how about Prisoners get escorted by guards that come on the bus to the Holding cell and from there your prisons guards grab them and bring them to their cells.

To go further, I would like to see also the prisoners arriving with casual clothes and given the prison uniform in the holding cell, as well as giving it back when released. Seeing prisoners leaving in prison uniform feels a bit weird.

Yes. We should have a processing cell that all arriving prisoners have to go to when they first arrive to get their welcome flogging.

Don't forget the baton sodomy prepping them for 'hard' time.

When release was first added, they said that there would be a lot more to it. They talked on the video how it was kinda lame that they just kinda waltzed out. I think eventually they should add a "processing" room where everybody enters from and leaves. This could also solve the problem of people coming in entrances you don't want them to.

Processing has been talked a lot about and honestly as things like disease, effects from contraband and gangs become implemented, it will become more important to observe new prisoners before integrating them into general population. If you dont invest in processing, expect a lice outbreak, tuberculosis, gang members grouped together and lots of drugs and weapons smuggled in.

I use holding cells to hold my entire prison population en masse.. so everyone sleeps and plays in one room. But i may just be crazy.

Holding cell might be useful if you wanted to go for a temporary jail kind of setup rather than a long term prison. If we could take in those kinds of prisoners till they were moved on elsewhere, this would require a 4th type of prisoner though - short stay prisoners.
