Why does this kitchen/canteen never serve food?

The staff have access to deliveries. There are appliances galore. Plenty of cooks. Access between the rooms. Yet the prisoners never get fed.

I'm new to the game, what am I missing? I have yet to feed anyone.

Did you set a time for eating in your regime?

Yes, twice a day. The prisoners show up but get no food.


I've also tried removing the kitchen and rebuilding it. It then worked for one meal cycle, and then stopped again. There's no feedback that I can see to indicate why. All appliances are connected to utilities.

Does it help if you get your finance above zero? (take a loan on the grants tab)

Try moving your serving tables one block down. I'm guessing they are too close to the wall that the cooks don't properly path to them.

Otherwise, try uploading your .prison save file to a file sharing site, and post a link to it here so we can take a look.

Are your cooks actually cooking the food or do they just sit there and faff all day?

I tried the serving tables in the lower position, no good.

The cooks are not cooking. The food enters the kitchen, but cooking does not happen.

On one of the serving tables, the stack of trays was 100% damaged and I was unable to remove the trays so I replaced the table- that seemed to be unrelated however, as the kitchen continued not to cook.

Are the kitchen and canteen in the same security level? did you try un-assigning and re-assigning the rooms?

Check the jobs tab if there are jobs not able to finish (mostly because of bad route), you have a lot rubble around which make me think of this.

im banking on a pathing error as well. with all the rubble around if there are path errors it can mess with other paths in the vicinity.

What would be good to see is a screenshot of the cantine area in deployment mode as I am guessing that with all the rubble that is about there is parts showing as no access if that is the case then you can remove the rubble from the game by editing the save game file

is there a wall missing right to the upper door? since then the kitchen is not closed

close the wall or build a second door, this should fix it
