As discussed in the thread about workmen/janitors having keys or not, I also have my workmen/cooks delayed - mainly at the front entrance where I have a big jail door that is on normal operation (so shutting if not opened by a guard).
I think this calls for either:
- a guard booth that you can place/link near a door so that the guard can immediately open the door when it is needed
Gameplay impact:
This needs a few blocks of space (booth = object?) and a dedicated guard (just like the cctv stations)
If the guard is tired and goes to the staff room to rest, you rely on the normal guards to open the doors.
During unrest/rioting prisoners can take over the booth and operate that door.
- a (door) Control room (combined with the cctv room?) from where all jaildoors can be operated.
Gameplay impact:
A seperate room with control panels as the cctv room (maybe it can be merged?) needing staffed personnel.
If the guard is tired and goes to the staff room to rest, you rely on the normal guards to open the doors.
During unrest/rioting prisoners can take over the control room, and unlock ALL jail doors and disable all cctv.
Variation: you can only control doors via the control room if they have a working cctv link (i.e. operators can see the doors on their screens)

[Suggestion] : door control

Re: [Suggestion] : door control
I was actually thinking this exact same thing when I was watching the PA-A20 video this morning. You could also have data networks similar to the way you lay electric conduit if you wanted to give prisoners with wire cutters something else to vandalize. Which control station controls which doors could be fairly easily determined by the routing of wire.
Doors on a schedule would also be a nice addition.

Re: [Suggestion] : door control
This is a great idea, much better than currently having to have a guard stationed between two doors. It just doesn't look right.

The way I do it, I am the "control station"
Makes things much simpler.

Works for you, but not for me - I can't be bothered checking multiple doors in my prison (that I do not want to be locked open - it is a prison, not a pub) clicking away every 2 seconds someone wants to use the door.. It will start to look too much like those time management games..

Re: [Suggestion] : door control
Maybe a remote door control by guards is already planned, as we have a Security room available but with no use actually. I could imagine the doors control system in this room, that's one of the first thing that comes to my mind when I think Security room, along with the CCTV monitors that actually can be placed everywhere.
