(Suggestion) Blackout should cause full-scale riot

Postby thekillergreece » Tue Jan 28, 2014 1:51 pm

Blackout= Sudden power station shut down or a huge part of prison(Such as, a wing with 100 prisoners living in there) power was shut for some reasons. This should cause full-scale riot(Only if the power shut down on whole prison) or small riot(Only on a wing which power was shut).

This would teach players careful their plans and protect their power station more than workshop. Because prisoners should also able to attack and destroy power station(As even if he is satisfied with needs, he wants to escape!)The riot should not be because of needs but for escape.

So, hows that?

For now, HELL NO!!! For later on, seems like a good idea.

Right now you already have enough to do during a blackout and to add a full-scale riot for which you don't yet have the ability to tackle it properly would be devastating

lol i feel ya but to be honest how often do you end up with a full blackout? its pretty easy to avoid since there aren't random failures

i agree though this is a feature for the future...don't have the means to combat full out riots really atm

About once every 75 hours of playing so not that often. Only when it happens it catches me by surprise because I connect to many cells to a single generator

lol yep and usually is pretty easy to fix partially just by dismantling a single piece of wiring

Just to expand on this, I suggest that all doors in the prison are electrical in nature and require to be in a powered area to be opened and closed in the current fashion. For safety, all doors should fail to an "open" position. This could then trigger escape attempts from the inmates in a blackout. Not a full scale riot, which I don't think would be realistic at the instant the power fails (not unless they caused the blackout and have pre-planned a riot).

Instead of triggering riot immediately, I would probably have blackout state elevate the temperature of the prison over time.
So if the blackout last too long, prisoners riots.

Yeah, I'm real thrilled when a game punishes me for failing to something small. Ryster suggested "upon a power cuts, doors default to open" but that sounds like the game intentionally wants you to fail given it does take a few hours to restore power and a lot longer when chaos reigns everywhere and a lot of places end up unsafe so by the point you've got everything under control you might have lost half your inmates to escaping or death in a brawl. That sounds incredibly unfair and like I said, as if the game is punishing you.

I don't know if a full scale riot is appropriate due to a blackout, but certainly it should encourage the prisoners to riot and make a break for it. I imagine they would see a sudden power outage as an opportunity to get up to all sorts of mischief, maybe even stealing or just destroying stuff.

Hmm... Maybe it could be planned for escapes or for contraband and other uses?
