well I have a a prisoner whos done his time but i cant for the life of me figure out how to let him go i thought the guards would do it but hes been in there for 2 days over time now and i still cant find the way to let him out can someone help me please.

where/how exactly is he stuck? If he has lockdown or solitary time that will need to be done before he can be released. If he is just stuck somewhere I find searching them sometimes works.

oh ok yea he it says he needs to go to solitary wasnt sure it was blinking like it didnt matter and he just needed to be released ill try it and see if it works thank you.

I occasionally get prisoners stuck in their cell, either on the bed or on the loo. (all my cells have both, and a drain)
The only way I have found to get around it is to dismantle the loo, bed and remove the cell footprint.
They will be taken to another cell or holding cell if you have no spare cells.
Once that is done, they will trot off and "do their thing". You can then reinstate the cell to all it's former glory.

Is there a path out of the building that's designated as "general population"? I haven't had this problem but a youtubber had an issue where released prisoners wouldn't leave. He finally realized he had every path out of the prison designated as "staff only". Released prisoners aren't staff, so they won't go through those areas and apparently the guards won't escort them through to let them out.

I've never had a problem with that, I tend to only have a single entry to my prison with an airlock of staff only just before freedom and it has never seemed to bother my prisoners they do just go through the staff only exit, seven through multiple straight staff only regions to get out.

It was, some people just don't realize when going just by outdated youtube videos instead of trying it out themselves

Or they haven't had the same issue occur in their own game. Honestly I don't know what build the video was on.
