Gun rooms

Postby Striket1234 » Wed Oct 09, 2013 2:08 pm

I have a feeling that this feature is coming and I was wondering when. It would be really cool to have it and it would be nice little addition to the game. How to people feel about this?

It depends. What do you mean by 'Gun'?

If your referring to live rounds and weapons then no. Armed guards on site could be considered but only used in the most extreme cases.

If your on about none lethal rounds then this is a possibility. I think it would me more like a riot room, with the weapons rounds and riot gear in for general use in riots.

But live rounds and weapons I don't think should be in the game.

Dude real prisons, as well as movie prisons, are filled with "gun rooms", also known as armories. Why "no" on guns? Here in America (except commiefornia and new york) guns are part of everyday life, and as so, they aren't rare or only given to special units.

Well, Chris said that they would add guards armed with weapons and armor in far future alpha versions, only after true balance..

Here in the UK, where Introversion is based, guns are so rare that only specialist units are given them and beat cops hardly ever get to touch them.

Ok, what I had in mind by someone suggesting a gun room, was an armoury where during a riot any guard can run and grab a gun. This is what I was originally disagreeing to.
Rethinking my original post, i think the armoury would be an addition *on the basis* they work similar to a kennel; Allow you to hire armed guards that have to return here in order to rearm, switch weapons, grab upgraded weapons etc. But these should only be used in the last resort. There should be a way to edge us away from using them until they are needed. (For example, an armed prisoner or hostage situation, or even an attempted breakout by external gangs!)

I dont feel normal guards should be able to go, grab a gun, and start running round threatening prisoners. Maybe, in the same room, they can grab riot gear, tasers, or none lethal weaponry. But not lethal weapons.
As said, here in the UK guns are rare. I understand the situation in america, where almost every police unit has weapons. Over here we have designated special armed units. No other officer carries weapons, even in prisons, I believe.

Actually in the U.S. prison guards are not allowed to have guns unless they are in watch towers or outside on perimeter patrol. This is because we have learned time and again the hard way that one will eventually find their way in the hands of an inmate. Even police officers need to surrender their guns before they are allowed in.

Not that I would be against giving people the option to get armed guards, it might be fun to have an old 1950's style prison.

You might want to fix your quote so it's quoting the person who actually said that and not the person they're replying to.

This is very true about the U.S. You won't generally find firearms inside a prison because of the fact that the guard force is abysmally smaller than the inmates. Armories are kept outside the walls and are issued to tower guards. Firearms are kept out of the prison because it would only take one falling into inmate hands to allow a complete takeover of the prison.

That said, in response to the off topic dig on California and New York. New York Corrections officers automatically get a conceal and carry license just like their police counterparts. I grew up in California and shot guns all the time. Also, I'd argue that you've never seen pervasive gun culture like you do with gangs in California. They live by the gun and die by the gun. Its a problem. A big problem.

I was talking about the draconian, non-functional, and constitution breaking gun laws in both commiefornia (where i live and study, for now) and new york. The gun laws unfairly restrict the use of arms from law abiding citizens, and ban most types of weapons. Commiefornia even has a ban by name list. This is only one dumb law out of many. As you said yourself, those laws are ineffective only target the taxpayers. Also I was talking about the armed and separated guards; I know normal guards don't get firearms, out of fear that a prisoner might get lucky. On the other hand, I would like to make a prisoner work/death camp in the future, perhaps with the help of mods.

Only if one was a gun grabbing, constitution hating, liberal, would this piss one off.
