I'm sure this will have probably been posted before, but having played for about a month or so. One of the main problems I seem to have had was that every so often even with a triple built airlock style door where you need to pass from the inner to the middle room then from middle to an outer holding area, then you can go out the front door. It seems like the guards just randomly open these doors to quickly sometimes leaving a big open walkway.
What I would like to see is a system that means that you can programme a pair of doors to mean in order for 1 to open the other must be closed.
The other idea I had was one where you could have doors on timers. This again shouldn't be to hard to put in and I think would be a great addition. An example of what I want from this is: I have a corridor linking the outside of the prison to a security office, but this corridor also has on the north and south of it my workshops. On the south of my Security Office I have my cells, and the north I have my Canteen. This leads to the problem that most of the doors I have to set to always open, especially as double doors seem to have less issues of people getting stuck, so I frequently use the large jail doors for high traffic areas. It also means I a riot they are solid blocks to stop them getting out.
So what I would like is that during work hours the door from security to the main corridor and then the workshops remain open, but at 6pm when the work shift has ended 1 hour before the doors to the workshop and that corridor should be closed but at 5pm the door to the canteen should open so that they can go to eat. Then 1hr after eating time is oven the canteen door should close and the doors to the cells should have been opened.
You wouldn't need a huge number of these door types, but maybe have it so you can set a door between timer 0 - 3 or 4. So in my case I would set the workshop on 1 the canteen on 2 and the cells on 3, all the rest just allow the guards to play with.

The last part of your idea reminds me of Evil Genius security systems. I'm hoping to see some kind of timer to act as an advanced option to customize my prison for autonomy.

Airlock doors, I like it!
Would work great for the "space" setting as well
The timer doors would also be nice, but might make it to easy to regulate the prison?

Doors on timers has been on the developer radar for a while:
From A Roadmap for Prison architect:
No developer confirmation on electronic doors (that I've seen), but it's been brought up in a number of places. Some discussion here.

Guards must now unlock doors with their keys, and this can keep the guards very busy in large prisons. Even staff members have to be let through by Guards, so there is now an incentive to use unlocked office doors in non-prisoner areas - an interesting security tradeoff. Jail-Cell doors are the exception, opening automatically when it’s lunchtime, yard time etc, but I may consider making this automation something you have to build in yourself using servos and timers eventually. And of course, your Guards drop their keys when knocked unconscious, and Prisoners will pick them up...
