[Suggestion] Foundation only please

Postby prototype » Wed Sep 11, 2013 8:53 pm

I have seen it somewhere before on this forum but I strongly feel that it should be said again.

Please make it so that it is possible to lay the foundation only.
It would not require the current "Building" option to be removed, I can see the usefulness if one does not want to manually build the lights and walls.

My suggestion would be to add another option that would only build the foundation, no walls, no lights, just the foundation.
It would solve a number of frustrations.

- no more having to build a door to get the foundation done.
- no more having to delete the brick wall to replace it with a concrete wall.
- no more lights that have to be deleted.

Instead the satisfaction of a foundation that needs no micro, o what a joy !

As you say, this has been brought up before. As such, if you felt that you had something to add to the conversation, bumping an old topic (such as this one is generally preferable to creating a new topic.

EDIT: There is also a really old bug report that is of relevance.

I do my best to post in existing topics
However it is not always that easy to find the best topic to post in.

Just to inform you, I have scanned all 50 pages of postings, there are not many people who would do that.
A forum like this is not so well suited to collect suggestions.

I found both the topic and the bug report in less than five minutes using the search functionality on the boards, and filters of the bug tracker. You also specifically said that you had seen it before, hence you knew that there were topics to search for.

The title is about lights not about foundation.
Eventhoug lights are part of the foundation, seems different to me.

Also I did not say I had seen that specific topic.
But well if you want to push me more into the corner, please feel happy to do so.

You could also on the other hand be less forum nazi and be happy that somebody bought the game and thought it was worthwhile to make a topic about something that can surely be improved !

Especially if he more or less on forehand excuses himself that he made a new topic because he had seen something similar but thought it to be worthwhile to make a new post anyway.

You know, I pointed you in the direction of a more relevant place. I gave you two good links to a related topic, and to a bug report which covers the same ground. You are the one that has decided that this is something to take offense at. You can choose to keep arguing, or you can grow up and accept the advice and links that were given.

1) I post here making a new post, making excuses for it, doing it anyway, giving a reason
2) you tell me I should post elsewhere
3) I explain why I posted here and also that I took effort scanning previous posts. You could leave it at that.
4) Here you start implying I am not willing to take 5 minutes effort to post in a topic I knew existed. I take offence
5) I ask you not to nazi me and tell you I might not have seen that topic specifically and was having a hard time figuring out where to post it and at the end decided to make a new thread. You could once again leave it at that.
6) Now you start telling me to grow up, which is by nature a way to disrupt any conversation, showing your adultness in a great fashion.

We do not live in a perfect world where every post is made in the topic that you xander think it will fit best in
I have made a serious effort to look around and made a decent post.

Now if you would now please react to the content of the post instead of making yourself look silly/unfriendly, that would be more useful.

I did react to the content, in my first post, where I directed you to the appropriate place to discuss the topic. It is you who has taken the thread off-topic by complaining about my post. Again, grow up.

Xander honestly, with the why you speak you don't wonder why he is taking offence. You come off condescending.

Not only that, honestly this thread is perfectly acceptable and he didn't need to post in the thread you linked at all.

If everyone posted how you wanted them to, there would never be any new posts, just endless threads with 100s of pages.

First of all you did not react to the content of the first post.
As you explain yourself, you merely questioned the positioning of it on the forum.
You can try to make it look the same, but it is not.

Secondly you once again insulted me.
The funny thing is that it is very obvious who needs to grow up here Xander.
You better start working on it as you are showing mod unworthy behavior.
