[AI Tweak(?)] Patrolling Guards During Shakedown

Postby xander » Mon Sep 02, 2013 10:19 pm

Currently, when a shakedown is ordered, guards stationed in cell blocks, unassigned guards, and patrolling guards are enlisted to help with the shakedown. Other stationed guards continue their work. That cellblock guards and unassigned guards help with the searching makes perfect sense to me. However, I would prefer it if patrolling guards did not help with the shakedown, as my CCTV monitors are watched by patrolling guards, and I don't like losing my cameras. Clearly this is a matter of opinion, so I would be interested to hear what others have to say before I open a bug report.

I agree and would go even further: imo no stationed guards should leave their posts to help search in other blocks.

I agree with Blip, alternatively I'd have it as a choice in the policy section

I think CCTV watchers should be more explicitely assigned. Patrolling a guy through the boundary of the monitors as the method of having a guard watch the cameras feels like a temporary hack to what should be a more explicit assignment of a guard to watch monitors. If that were the case then they could be excluded from being reassigned.

This ^

Also, build a security office for your guards to watch the CCTV monitors, then lock the door.
Eventually they'll give up / be stuck at the monitor.

Or, how about seperating the CCTV guards and line guards? It seems like the CCTV workers should be kept completely separate from the rest of the guards.

I had the same thing happen Xander, during a shakedown I lost all the cameras. I'll take this a step further from the suggestions in this thread (which are all good ones), and say that it may be better to have more deployment options in general. I touch on this here, even though I was talking about the other extremity with certain deployed guards not helping with tasks in the context of that particular thread. Still applies though since it comes down to the players inability to declare certain patrols as "more important" than others. Except from the linked thread post:

_alphaBeta_ wrote:I think there should be more deployment options. My issue is that stationed guards do not help with much of anything out of their sector. Would be nice to specify things like:
•Guard this zone or patrol, but help with new prisoner arrivals etc.

•Guard this zone or patrol, and help with prisoner arrivals and minor fights (non-riot).

•Guard this zone or patrol, and don't leave this post unless there's an emergency (escape, fire, riot etc.)

•Guard this zone or patrol, and don't leave your post for anything.

This list certainly needs expansion, but given the option, my CCTV guard would have the last option: Don't move from these CCTV monitoring stations. Last thing anyone needs during an emergency is to lose the "eye in the sky."

Good call. Sorry I missed that post. More granular control for guards would be nice in general. I like your solution.
