Things we broke in alpha 13

Postby Chris » Sat Aug 31, 2013 5:19 pm

Hey fellas,

We broke some stuff in alpha 13, sorry about that!

We have since released a hotfix that deals with many of these issues. Steam users will get it automatically, everyone else can download from our builds page. More info:
introversion/viewtopic.php?t=4627

- [FIXED] There is a nasty deployment bug that causes the sector system to fail to subdivide the prison. You can tell easily if you are affected - open up the Deployment screen and if you see everything grey (no sectors selectable), you are affected. The effect is that almost all pathfinding will fail, meaning your prison will grind to a halt after loading.

- Patrols work differently now. You have to assign guards to patrols, it is no longer automatic. To assign a guard to a patrol, click on a patrol and that square will become a start point for a guard. This takes Patrols closer to what we originally intended - long routes walked by a small number of guards around your entire prison.

- [FIXED] Patrol assignments aren't being saved properly. After loading a saved game you'll find non of your patrols are manned anymore.

- However those empty patrols will fill up with idle guards almost immediately.

- You are supposed to be able to set punishments for complaining, but we accidentally missed this out of the Policy screen. Murder was deliberately left out of this screen, because a crime that serious would warrant a new prison sentence rather than some time in solitary.

- [FIXED] The maximum punishment time was capped at 5 hours

So the giant purple kaiju is not something broken? That is an intended feature?

Building a wall didn't help ... in fact even the workmen are now stuck.
Have started a new prison ... will see if the bug affects that too.

have you saved and re-loaded the game after sorting the walls out? If not, then do that. If you still have the problem make sure there are no walls that are 2x2 or more.

There are no more 2x2 walls and also no isolated walls. I saved the prison and reloaded it, furthermore no changes.

It's my prison since Alpha 10 (I don't like to restart often  )

Could you please upload your prison somewhere so we can test it!

What about that 2x2 fencing by the left most yard? Try demolishing the extra fence and reloading.
Yes, that is a penguin with rabies. Deal with it.

Ok, I demolished the second fence, now it works. But it was an 3x3 area (1x1 inside)...
Thanks for the tipps :)

@Chris: Prison Architect is my favorite game at this time :) . But please... there are some bugs, that are very nerved, p.e. the glitching dead visitors, the laundry bug or now the deployment and the new patrol system which don't save assigned guards... I really hope, you'll fix them in Alpha 14 (I voted for Bugfixing in the other thread).

I loaded my game up today and the deployment was fixed, I believe it was the 2x2 walls that messed it ups.

Just an FYI Chris. The second bullet above isn't happening for me. The patrols themselves are maintained, but the guard symbol that shows the assignment is missing on a subsequent load. Unless I'm not waiting long enough, the symbols never come back and the patrol remains unmanned until I manually reassign them.

The new patrol system is worth it though. Much more customizability.
