Do Metal Detectors only Detect Metal Now?

I thought in the past and on the wiki that they detect all contraband whether or not it is metal. If so how to I stop non-metal contraband?

Well as the game is still in Alpha, I would suggest treating the wiki as well.

As for the metaldetector, it should now only detect objects that are classified as metal.
To combat the other contraband, one option is the newly added shakedown button in the bottom right.
Ofcourse minor side effect is that prisoners don't like being touched...uhm searched.

I assume from your question that you didn't watch the update-video that IV released.

Also, you can detect the others since they are "Smelly". The guard dogs will probably be able to smell those.
