How many Alpha/ Beta Versions will there be?

Postby Maraio1 » Mon Jul 29, 2013 9:39 pm

Hi guys, I know this might sound weird, or a noob question; if it does. Ignore it and forget it.
If you're still here; good.
My question is How many Alpha versions are we looking at here. I know that IV is only a one/two/three man company, but producing a great game. So obviously they haven't got the budget or staff as AAA games, but are we looking at least 30 Alphas? 40 Alphas?
Because, part of me sais "FIXS THE BUGGGSSS!!" but another part sais "NEVER LEAVE ALPHA SO JUST KEEP ON ADDING THINGS!"
I'm going to accept that I'm a noob so that's why I'm asking.

Thank You In Advance.

Chris will keep releasing alphas until he is done. Thus, however many versions there end up being, it will be "enough."

But when will "Enough" be "enough"?
In terms of features. I mean

I think once the game has enough complexity to keep the players busy for a reasonable amount of time.

I agree, i think we will be looking at a campaing of some sort and much more "end-game" content for the bigger prisons so that player can keep having the motivation to play.

I think it will be "enough" when the simulation(Chris stated that he wanted PA to be a simulation of some sort) is random enough to be unpredictable

Well Chris updates the Alpha once a month and I believe the estimated release date Q3 or Q4 of 2014 so I think 20-30 in total. Remember that features will still be able to be added in the Beta, Alpha is for the major game features that make up the core gameplay.
Yes, that is a penguin with rabies. Deal with it.
