[LOTS OF SUGGESTIONS] Watchtowers, Command center, Armory.
UPDATED 1/31/2014
Watchtowers
Now from what I've seen this has been suggestion to appoint to be used to spot nighttime escapes. I think it's a great idea but I would like to add upon it. The idea was to have spotlights to use the spot these escapes. Now I think to be a very cool and good idea not only to have these watchtowers have spotlights but and also be manned. It would be a great idea if the spotlights were to go back and forth among the ground like real guard towers do, but it should be required for to be manned. In other words for you to assign guards to that watchtower.
With that I think would also be nice if with these watchtowers you can also have these guards armed with sniper rifles. A basic rifle with a scope on it that will be used to wound, kill or even threaten prisoners. The idea would be for you to assign guards to these watchtowers and you could have them armed. It would be nice if you could assign 1 to 3 guards to watchtower, And to have the choice if you want them to be armed. Now with this they should be able to wound a prisoner to stop them from escaping. Or to even have him kill the prisoner.
With this it would be cool if you could deploy where it determines a guard decides to threaten a prisoner, to wound a prisoner, and were to kill a prisoner. In other words you would Mark what zones are the kill zones, threaten zones, and the wound zones. In now so-called threaten zone. This is where if a guard was to spot prisoner. He/She would point such rifle and threatens the prisoner to stay where he is or he will be shot. If the prisoner gets to the wound zone the guard will try to shoot the prisoner to wound him. To get him to stop escaping. If a prisoner gets the kill zone. The guard will go for the kill shot, no questions, shoot first.
Now with this there should be different watchtowers. Smaller towers will have less spotlights and less guards that can man it. While medium or even just skip to big watchtowers. Can have more men manned and more spotlights.
You can also choose a guard to be armed and with what equipment.
Additional floors.
I know this has been suggested already and I think this would be a good idea too. People have suggested everything from a second floor, to a sub basement, and a third floor. I think that a second third and sub basement floor would be something really cool to add to this game. Could be really cool if the sub basement was used for stuff like generators and water pumps water filtration and waste management. Some people asked for climate. This would be the place to put heaters and boilers and stuff like that. A roof would be really top-notch. This would be where you could have guards with rifles walking around the perimeter of the roof and air conditioning units!
Amory
I Want this Armory to have a Armory clerk/manager of sort. That's sits behind the glass counter with the little cut out and it allowing for the passage of weapons, bullets and other things that will get to. Or if this idea of the so-called clerk is not wanted that's fine with me.
I also would like to have stuff like smoke grenades, tear gas, flash bangs, Stun Guns/Tasers, Paddy wacker/billystick/ b'tawn/ billy club/ nightstick, body armor, helmets, Riot gear, riot shields, beanbag guns/pellet guns/nonlethal weapon, gas masks, and Rubber Pellet Grenades. With this they should also have its own armory door. The door which only guards can get through or only certain guards. This door should be strong and hard to break into.
With this guards should be assigned so-called weapons and equipment. There forth you can have certain guards assigned to carry tear gas. Or with a weapon. With a maximum maybe up to five. You should be able to mix and match with that five Max inventory slot.
Along with this stuff. The point of the gas mask of my idea at least is. When let's say there is a fight or a riot going on. A guard just can't throw a tear gas grenade and walk through it. He should require a gas mask to be able to go through it with no ill effects.
With the Armory there should be different types of a weapon. There should be two types of pistols two types of shotguns one sniper rifle and one rifle. One pistol would be a Glock. A standard issue pistol. Not a powerful or two intimidating pistol. The so-called dirty Harry revolver. Powerful magnum that is extremely intimidating. A regular pump action wooden stock shotgun. The other a more of a tactical shotgun. A typical rifle with a scope on it. And a typical rifle. But these the more powerful more intimidating weapon would cost more.
Guards and prisoners behavior.
With this like I mentioned before about having two sets of weapons. Having a Glock will be less intimidating and less powerful. It should affect the prisoner is willingness to give up. It also determines the damage. A Glock might take a couple shots put down prisoner. That gives a better chance for that prisoner to overpower that guard. While the dirty Harry Magnum could do it in one shot giving that guard better chance.
Now with guards. When there's a riot guards should be a little smarter on how to handle this. A lot of times they'll rush in get themselves killed and have all their equipment taken. Very frustrating. It makes it harder to put down riots, and then your guards are useless. With this guards should have training with this. In other words for guards to use smoke grenades, teargas, nonlethal weapons, and so on should have training to use such equipment. If the guards are trained not only in with the equipment but also tactics for riot control. For example if a riot breaks out in the shower. Instead of guards running in their getting themselves killed. If they have the training and equipment they will instead maybe throw a rubber pellet grenades or a teargas grenade. If they got gas mask they put it on rush in there and try to put down the riot.
Or If a riot happens guards will rush to the Armory to get equipped and ready for that riot. Some guards will try to stick together and by each other for safety. Example: If two guards are by each other the riot happens they will stop get together and bundle up. One guard looking the other way and one guard looking the other way. There forth if the rioters come their way to have a better chance. For example if they have guns. They look each other way and will try to have any rioters to back off by threatening them, wounding them, or just right out killing them. And as I said before there is a possibility they will get overrun and get knocked unconscious killed and have their equipment taken.
Flashlights and batons
Guards should have to carry flashlights in dim lit areas or at nighttime. Also guards should take the batons and drag them across the cell doors. No more helmet head flashlights.
Different quality of items and more Items
In the common room I would like to have it that you can choose different types of TVs. A smaller TV will give less needs. While a bigger nicer TV gives more needs and faster.
We also need more items common room. Like video games being able to play chess and other things among those lines. Computers etc.
One thing with offices is that they all always look the same and boring. The wardens office should require a nicer desk chair computer and something else of different items for his office. Same thing with the accountant require other items that go along with her type of job. Same as all the other employees that require an office.
Security rooms
The security rooms need more use of them. The security room should be a place that can be used as a checkpoint. Be used by guards. Maybe hold a smaller stash of equipment. They need to have more use other than a CC TV cameras monitors. They should make a security stronger in that area. In other words make it more unlikely prisoners get into fights around those areas. Should be like a strong point.
Command center
A new room should be a command center of sort. This should be where CCTV cameras monitors should go. Where intercom equipment is stored. Once again they should have to be manned. Should also have your communication equipment and so on.
Intercoms
Intercoms should be used for announcements and communication and whatever else you think of they could be used for.
Cells
Some people have already asked for nicer cells for better more behaved lesser security prisoners. I am 100% behind this idea. You should be able to make and sell nicer with such thing as shelves for them to put books. Allow them to be able to draw. To paint and many other activities within their cells to make their time easier. Also an indicator, telling us how nice a cell is. From bare minimums to excellent.
Library
From what I can see in the Alpha 10 pictures we're going to get a library. Thank the heavens. In this idea we should have the opportunity to assign a prisoner to be a Liberian. We should have bigger and nicer bookshelves with different types of books. For example science fiction, history, fantasy, biographies, love stories, and much more. The more different types the happier the prisoners.
Prison graveyard
A prison graveyard be a great place to put your dead prisoners. To put them the rest. Maybe you can have small little funeral with the family. Will be a priest and so on.
Mounted guards
The idea that would be really awesome. Is if you could have guards mounted on horses. Have guards patrol an area with a shotgun while riding a horse.
Layers of fences, electric fences, Razor wire, and Floodlights
Now if we go back to my previous idea about the guard towers in the different zones. It would be cool to have electric fences, fences, and barb wire rows. In which to determine those zones. Also be have a great place to have mounted guards patrolling guards on foot and even guard dogs. Also Floodlights. To do what Floodlights do. Flood with light......
Blueprints
More options in the blueprints. For example being able to mark different rooms. I have to always mark my rooms with a letter representing a certain room. And a lot of times it's frustrating and hard to make a certain letter or letters if the room is too small. Maybe make where doors go! Also maybe be able to blueprint objects lights something. Something to be able to really plan out your prison.
Cigarettes and other pleasure items.
Prisoners should be allowed cigarettes, pop/soda/soft drinks, chips, and other items of pleasure.
The yard
There needs to be more items for exercise and working out. Equipment for exercising and working out. Definitely need a basketball court basketball court. Needs to have more used to it.
CCTV cameras management
CCTV cameras are all simultaneously on the same path. They moved back and forth all alike. We need to have it so we can choose how fast and how slow they moved. So you can have one camera looking over here while the other cameras looking over their back and forth to the way you want it.
.
Grants
Grants need an overhaul in a little more balancing. We also need more. We need some grants for stuff like laundry and CCTV cameras. Grants for libraries if we get them. A cellblock B grant. So far there's only in A. A small grant for visitation maybe. A small grant for workshop. What about some milestone grants? Like having a certain amount of prisoners? Once you hit a certain amount get a little reward.
Showered / Eaten for guards and prisoners
Once a prisoner has showered / eaten, they should leave the room and have free-time. With this guards that are free usually hang out and stuff like the holding cell, the yard, the cafeteria, etc. They Should move with the regime. If it's shower time free guards should go to the shower or to the cafeteria to the yard. When it's free time, in the common room, visitation, and go on patrols in places where there is fog of war. But also leave some guards important areas. In the front of the prison.
Roll call
A roll call with the prisoners outside their cells and guards walking up and down make sure everybody's there and to check cells for contraband escape plots etc. Guard dog sniffing for contraband etc.
Doors set to regime
A lot of times it's kind of annoying when you have prisoners piling up to take a shower and to have a guard unlocked the door. Doors can be matched with the regime. For example. When it's shower time you can have it set the door to the shower will lock open and as soon as everybody's out the door will shut again. Same with the cafeteria and yard. We should keep this optional. So if you want to guard to have to open the doors you can leave it be.
Items used
Items in offices and in the common room should be used. Pool tables should have pool sticks and balls. That when randomly hit the balls move around. Also pool sticks could be held. Maybe even be stolen and used as weapons. Staff that require offices should use the filing cabinets computers etc. In the yard the weight bench should have prisoners lifting weights. Instead of having prisoners literally hover over the top of TVs why not let them have furniture to sit there forth allowing more than one prisoner to watch TV.
Prison walls and catwalks
A new special prison wall. Maybe with catwalks that guards can patrol. Maybe going between building to building from roof to roof etc.
Thank you for anyone that read through it all!
Please share your opinions and ideas!

Not all death row inmates want to escape. Some are quite content to sit in prison and wait for their execution.

I guess they have come to accept reality? To understand what they did wrong? That they deserve it?

Look, I appreciate that you put a lot of work into your post, but I disagree with some of it. I'll explain.
Watchtowers - I agree wholeheartedly, but I don't see a point for scanning spotlights. I'd rather suggest floodlights, which can light up the vicinity extremely brightly, with an aimable spotlight the guards can use if they notice something moving in the bushes.
Additional floors - confusing and unnecessary. The "too little space" argument can't be used anymore since you can buy land now. You'd lose prisoners, have a hard time keeping track of guards and supplies, and would be difficult to implement. At most, I would agree with a "basement" level, otherwise known as utilities, in which prisoners could perhapd make escapes through water pipes or something.
Armoury - Ho-ly shit. That's a lot of stuff. I'm down with the weapon concepts, but I believe it has to be simplified by a lot.
Pistols are needless, since guards inside the prison won't be armed anyway. By federal law, mind you - even police officers visiting a prisoner have to remove their firearms and check them into security before entering. Too much risk. A perimeter guard or tower guard might have a rifle, and if they had one, they wouldn't really need a sidearm. I don't see a need for shotguns either, but it seems as though they're going to make it in.
Sniper rifles are an iffy thing. Long range shooting takes a lot of practice, and though I'm sure there are guards who could do it, there can't be many. If sniper rifles make it in, the guards will have to have special training. But in the end, distances will be short enough that a rifle will just plain suffice.
Prison guards don't carry tear gas/sting grenades/flash bangs, because a prisoner could grab one off the guard, drop it, stun everyone and kill someone/make a break for it/start a riot. I think these should make it in, but only accessible to the riot police.
I don't support micromanagement of guns - after all, you don't buy billiard balls and replace missing ones. Simply too much work to individually load each and every weapon. Additionally, "slots" are also useless - I mean, just two settings will do - armed or not armed. So far, it looks like only one weapon, the shotgun, will make it in. After all, it's long range and short range, and that's really all you need.
Intimidation and risk - this doesn't make sense. A guard can't shoot a prisoner who isn't posing a threat to life just like a cop can't shoot two people fighting. Warning shots can't be done, it might go through a wall and hit someone else, or at the least damage the flooring. It's why the ONLY armed guards to enter a prison are armed with NON LETHAL WEAPONS - like the riot police in game now. I am opposed to having armed guards patrolling in general - perimeter and tower only makes sense.
... Why?
Funny thing is it WAS like that, but then they removed the large TV.
Hey, I hired that warden and he will work wherever the hell I want him to work.
Command center - useless. Combine uses for security and CCTV.
A public library could be accessible by all, a private one could have jobs assigned to hand out books.
Prison graveyard - hearses were just introduced.
Mounted guards - cool idea, but I'm not really sold with it. Seems like a lot of work to implement and you could have something simpler like a perimeter car instead.
Upcoming. Just wait.
Grants - it's obvious more grants will be added and elegible for unlocking soon, but I disagree with emergency grants. If you're low on cash, you have fucked up and therefore it is your fault. You should have managed better.
Roll call is NOT a shakedown. Roll call is where attendance is taken, (I'm betting it might be implemented), and a shakedown is where every cell in a block is searched. (Also probably going to be implemented).
Also guards should take the batons and drag them across the cell doors.
... Why?
In the common room I would like to have it that you can choose different types of TVs. A smaller TV will give less needs. While a bigger nicer TV gives more needs and faster.
Funny thing is it WAS like that, but then they removed the large TV.
One thing with offices is that they all always look the same and boring. The wardens office should require a nicer desk chair computer and something else of different items for his office. Same thing with the accountant require other items that go along with her type of job. Same as all the other employees that require an office.
Hey, I hired that warden and he will work wherever the hell I want him to work.
Command center - useless. Combine uses for security and CCTV.
In this idea we should have the opportunity to assign a prisoner to be a Liberian.
With female prisoners it would seem we would have to have female guards would we not? I guess that's up to the community I can going away on this one. Although I do like the idea of having male and female guards even in the only male prison.
Upcoming.
I like this idea. Maybe hiring certain guards for certain tasks would be a bit like Theme Hospital, where certain people are good and bad, and sometimes you'll make desperate decisions and pick the bad ones when the good ones run out.

CplHenderson wrote:Look, I appreciate that you put a lot of work into your post, but I disagree with some of it. I'll explain.
Watchtowers - I agree wholeheartedly, but I don't see a point for scanning spotlights. I'd rather suggest floodlights, which can light up the vicinity extremely brightly, with an aimable spotlight the guards can use if they notice something moving in the bushes.
I have suggested flood lights. So why not both?
CplHenderson wrote:Additional floors - confusing and unnecessary.
I can understand now that we can buy new land. Although If the Devs can and will implement it. I say go for it. Many other have asked for this. I don't blame them. It would be nice.
CplHenderson wrote:Armoury - Ho-ly shit. That's a lot of stuff. I'm down with the weapon concepts, but I believe it has to be simplified by a lot.
I like it complicated!
CplHenderson wrote:Pistols are needless, since guards inside the prison won't be armed anyway.
Yes, but this isn't a simulator. I like the idea of have a risk so there is some thing to counterbalance it. Have guards walking around with guns will make it over powered.

Do I hear a new unit? Or as I've said before. They must have training.

Counterbalance! It is a game. I like the idea of an option of if you want to risk it.

I understand, but there needs to be some thing to stop you form having an army depot.

I never really said for a guard to right out shoot them. I may have left details out. I only meant to shot a prisoner if that guards life is in danger. Also to give a warning shoot to give a prisoner a chance.
Also guards should take the batons and drag them across the cell doors.

Why not? It just something for fun. Kinda out of the movies.

I seen that! So bring it back!

CplHenderson wrote:Command center - useless. Combine uses for security and CCTV.
I wound't say that. Security Room as of now are used as a Command center and less of a Security Room. They only use for a Security Room is CCTV. Why not put other use to a Security Room and have a Command center with CCTV cameras monitors intercom equipment communication equipment and so on. Security Rooms need to be that! Provide Security! To be used a checkpoint. Be used by guards. Maybe to have a very small stash of equipment. They should make a security stronger in that area. In other words make it more unlikely prisoners get into fights around those areas. Should be like a strong point.
In this idea we should have the opportunity to assign a prisoner to be a Liberian.
CplHenderson wrote:A public library could be accessible by all, a private one could have jobs assigned to hand out books.
I guess but I do like the idea of a Liberian to run the library. Doesn't have to be an prisoner.
CplHenderson wrote:Prison graveyard - hearses were just introduced.
Yea, but this has been asked for over and over again. Hearses can be used if the family wants it. Or to remove guards. The Gaveyard will be used for all others!
CplHenderson wrote:Mounted guards - cool idea, but I'm not really sold with it. Seems like a lot of work to implement and you could have something simpler like a perimeter car instead.
I guess it's another movie thing. You seen them with chain gangs and in the yard. Patrol an area with a shotgun. WITH SNNGLASSES! Don't forget the awesome SNNGLASSES!

You're 100% Right! So we can just have both! A Roll call and a shakedown!
Now with this. What I'm saying is this is not simulator. It's a game! It's meant to be fun! Not realistic!

Re: [LOTS OF SUGGESTIONS] Watchtowers, Command center, Armor
wildbillhdmax01 wrote:So I compiled kind of a big list of suggestions that some may have already been suggested according to the (Current Suggestions Compilation List) Thread, but I haven't seen those threads with the same suggestions I have. So I don't know what was said and what has been suggested, so will just throw my two cents in.
In other words you would Mark the what what zones are the kill zones, threaten zones, and the wound zones. In now so-called threaten zone that is where guard if spot to prisoner point such rifle and a prisoner threatens him to stay where he is or he will be shot. If the prisoner gets to the wound zone the guard will try to shoot the prisoner to wound him. To get him to stop escaping. If a prisoner gets the kill zone. The guard will go for the kill shot no questions shoot first.
Now with this there should be different watchtowers. Smaller towers will have less spotlights and less guards that can man it. While medium or even just skip to big watchtowers. Can have more men manned and more spotlights.
You can also choose a guard to be armed and with what equipment.
Additional floors.
I know this has been suggestion already and I think this would be a good idea too. People have suggested everything from a second floor, to a subbasement, and a third floor. I think that a second third and subbasement floors would be something really cool to add to this game. Could be really cool if the subbasement was used for stuff like generators and water pumps water filtration and waste management. Some people asked for climate. This would be the place to put heaters and boilers and stuff like that. A roof would be really top-notch. This would be where you could have guards with rifles walking around the perimeter of the roof and air conditioning units!
Armory
This has been suggested and I'm so happy about that. As for myself I have lots of ideas for this Armory.
From the picture that will provide. It seems that we already have the Armory in the works. But from what I can see I am not exactly happy. See Pictures below!
I Want this Armory to have a Armory clerk/manager of sort. That's sits behind the glass counter with the little cut out and it allowing for the passage of weapons, bullets and other things that will get to. Or if this idea of the so-called clerk is not wanted that's fine with me.
But what I want is to have racks of shotguns, sniper rifles, rifles, and pistols.
Now guns should be on the expensive side. You shouldn't be able to stockpile guns unless you have the money to do so. Guns should have a cost to maintain. Or to even if the ideas liked to have to rebuy bullets.
Smoke grenades, tear gas, flash bangs, and rubber pellet grenades, should have a one time use. There forth the guard throws a flash bang that flash bang is subtracted that guards inventory there forth stockpile.
With this guards should be assigned so-called weapons and equipment. There forth you can have certain guards assigned to carry a certain amount of tear gas. Or with a weapon with a certain amount to a maximum amount of bullets. With a maximum maybe up to five. You should be able to mix and match with that five Max inventory slot.
Along with this stuff. Gas mask filters should have to be replaced when used. The point of the gas mask of my idea at least is. When let's say there is a fight or a riot going on. A guard just can't throw a tear gas grenade and walk through it. He should require a gas mask to be able to go through it with no ill effects. There forth using gas mask filter.
Should be able to stockpile if you have the money. Should be able to stockpile gas mask filters, bullets, smoke grenades, tear grenades, pellet grenades etc.
Guards and prisoners behavior.
Now with this idea of the Armory and guns there has to be something to counterbalance this right? To have a whole prison guards walking around in full suits of armor and shotguns at the ready should be something that you can achieve, but shouldn't be so easy and can be dangerous.
With this you can run your prison with an iron fist. Guards walking around like soldiers. On the other hand having guards walking around with guns should have a risk. Just like it is now. When a guard is knocked unconscious or killed the prisoners take his keys his batons anything else he has. This can make it a lot harder to take that so-called prisoner down especially when there's a riot. It should be the same with guns. If you have guards walking around with guns there should be a chance that he can be killed and knocked out and have his equipment/guns taken and used against other prisoners/guards. So if should be a risk to a certain point. Let me explain.
Now from what I'm to understand certain prisoners will give up to guards easier or harder depending on the prisoner and traits. So a minimum security prisoner will give up a lot easier. There's also some other factors like how unhappy he is and so on. Well medium security prisoners give up little harder depending on how unhappy traits and so. Same with maximum. With guns should have a intimidating factor to them.
An example if a couple of prisoners are going at it. Let's say the guard walked up to him and try to get them stop but he gets a little out of hand. He pulls out his weapon and tells him to get down. The minimum security prisoner will give up right there and then. They are intimidated by the weapon and being shot. All the maximum-security prisoner depending how angry is and a courses traits. Him also being a maximum-security might not give up so easily. So with this there's a possibility that the guard might be overtaken and have his weapons taken from him and being killed or knocked unconscious. Or maybe get a warning shot frightened him so he stopped. Or maybe that didn't do anything so he has to wound him or even kill him. But if both of the prisoners weren't so scared they can easily overtake him get his weapons and equipment keys and so on. So there should be some risk. On the other hand you have very hard prison with guards walking around the shotguns and rifles and armor. It could be extremely hard for prisoner to escape or will give up very easily.
It makes it harder to put down his riot and then your guards are useless.
Layers of fences, electric fences and Floodlights
Now if we go back to my previous idea about the guard towers in the different zones. It would be cool to have electric fences, fences, and barb wire rows. In which to determine those zones. Also be have a great place to have mounted guards patrolling guards on foot and even guard dogs. Also Floodlights. To do what Floodlights do. Flood with light......
Guard dogs
Guard dogs had been suggested and people have came up with some really neat ideas. I like the idea of being able to have different dogs with different aggression and attack.
They should wear something like this:
Also definitely need German shepherds. Guard dogs will never be completed without those mean looking German shepherds.
A faster time control
I seem that this was suggested too. We need this. It takes too long to go through a day. It takes too long to build. We need a third time speed control. The speed control should most definitely make things a heck of a lot faster. Because it gets so boring having to wait during the setup of building your prison to play the game. A lot of times when I set up my game and building I always have to find myself something to occupy myself when waiting for this to happen. Time just to slow. Takes too long to get anything done.
Prisoners work assignments
It would be nice if we could choose who will work. To be able to choose by a traits, in recent troubles. So if you want only minimum-security prisoners working. We should have that choice. Or if you want medium security prisoner.
Female prisoners and guards
With female prisoners it would seem we would have to have female guards would we not? I guess that's up to the community I can going away on this one. Although I do like the idea of having male and female guards even in the only male prison.
Emergency grants. There is times you will run low on money and you will need something to help maintain your prisoners needs. If you're low on funds a lot of times there's nothing you can do. This can sometimes lead to riots. Emergency grant that give something of $5000 you can accept when you hit a certain point of funds. Example. If you go below $1000 you can accept an emergency grant of $5000. This is just to keep you out of trouble and make sure that some flexibility. Also only three emergency grants. After that your screwed. To restrict abuse for balancing issues could always put a timer on how often you can accept these.
Prison walls instead of fences. A special prison wall for the sole purpose of keeping the prisoners inside just like the fences. Maybe with catwalks that guards can patrol. Maybe going between building to building from roof to roof etc.

Here you see stuff like the church, library, and objects for the armory. Along with many other things!
