People are forgetting this is an alpha

Nuff said. More prevalent in steam and general forums than here.

So why not post this in even bigger letters over on steam?

Yes, they should make you do a idiot proof quiz before allowing you to purchase the alpha, something along the lines of.

1. Do you want to buy the Alpha?

2. Are you sure you want to buy the Alpha it is an Alpha you know?

3. Do you know what an Alpha is?

4. Do you understand an Alpha is not the complete product?

5. Are you going to moan about the game not being complete?

6. Are you going to moan about certain features not working?

7. Are you going to complain about how much this game cost?

Using those questions above, to allow them in to the alpha, then if they lied, embarrass them with public evidence of their answers. Possibly even post them a n00b certificate in the post.

Then Introversion might not get as many funds and what not which would allow them to focus more on this one game than instead of having to do other things in order to make ends meet.
I don't really mind people who wine that much. They serve to point out the more serious issues and are relatively easy to vent against should it be a bad day.

So yea,
More money to Introversion the better

The issue is that gamers are not familiar with the alpha system, and its a new concept. The thought of spending money on an incomplete game is completely opposite of what gamers expect - consider the amount of negativity that occurs when a game is released that has even a few bugs that are 'breaking' or such. Look at SimCity2013.

Toss that kind of knee-jerk anger into an alpha and that makes up for hte majority of upset gamers.

The key is education through a continuous stream of reminders and a steady flow of information to ensure people really truly understand what they are getting into.

Several users have noted on the steam forums that some sort of 'quiz' would be helpful, and as was noted, something as simple as, "READ TIS BEFORE BUYING" would be good. No one reads EULAs, so I doubt a quiz would be any different, but still, that would be nice

That is why the following is clearly shown on the prison architect purchase page on steam:
“Prison Architect is currently in Alpha, which means we haven't finished it yet - it's full of bugs and glitches and you're not going to get a polished experience if you buy it at the moment. "

Almost exactly the same thing is said very clearly in the video on Introversion's prison architect page.

The issue is not that users are unfamiliar with the alpha system, it is that a certain percentage of users are simply stupid. Unfortunately it's the stupid ones who make the most noise.

No, it's not about stupidity, it's all about immaturity.
I believe the ones who are making the most noise are kids who are used to getting "instant gratification" as any psychologist would say.
They are not used to wait for anything, they want the candy NOW.

I'm sure what you're offering has another name. Premature... something.

Nothing can be done to stop random idiots from complaining online, it is like the wind or the tide.

It is just unusual with prison architect though, given that every video and post has had the intention to discourage these people from buying the game. They even avoided making the alpha "ultra cheap, buy in early" to avoid that.
