[Suggestion] Idle workers rationalise stacks

Postby jacksonj04 » Sat Jun 22, 2013 5:26 pm

I recently started building a large extension wing only to inadvertently cancel it. When I restarted the process it seemed to order a whole bunch of extra concrete and steel (which may or may not be a bug, but this isn't about that) - when the work was done I had a large number of 'spare' stacks of steel and concrete which then were duly carted back to storage, filling it up.

This all makes sense, but what was annoying was that some of the stacks were only two or three items deep yet still occupied an entire floor space. My suggestion is thus:

Idle workers should attempt to rationalise the storage by making stacks up to their maximum depth, eg a stack of 6, a stack of 14, a stack of 9 and a stack of 12 should all be rationalised into a stack of 30 and a stack of 11 (assuming 30 is the maximum depth for that item type). If the workers are going to be standing around all day they may as well make the room tidy.

+1 good sir or ma'am.

I oftentimes wish the workers had something to do when they had nothing else to do since pretty much every other staff member is working constantly
