[Suggestion] Playing for the Prisoners

Postby Paradoxfiasco » Wed Apr 03, 2013 6:04 pm

Hello,

Being new to the forum I am hesitant to pitch suggestions right off the bat in case my searching and 'already suggested' list reading capabilities have failed me. Still, I will share my thoughts and if I have missed a glaringly obvious already existing post I'm sure you'll all tell me where to look!

I see a couple of posts here and there talking about mid and late game, also with cash flow issues once the initial grants dry up. Without a doubt these will be addressed in time regardless but I thought I'd throw my two pence in.

Now, I am aware the idea of VIP visitors is not new, though I am not sure if they have been discussed with musicians/bands in mind. I would like to see something like this happen, perhaps with nods to various people who have played prisons in the past (Jimmy Money? Plastillica? I'm no good with names). A object could be introduced in the way of a stage that could be played in a common room which would double as the performance hall.

With such a high profile visitor in attendance security would have to be tight but they'd also need a large enough audience to spend their time coming down here. I had thought maybe 100 prisoners? Or maybe a certain number of max security prisoners in need of some entertainment. Perhaps even the option to have someone come down could be a joint upgrade via bureaucracy from the lawyer, accountant and psychologist?

Of course, the consequences of an escape or even of the VIP in question being harmed or killed could be disastrous, but a successful show could pad your income nicely through publicity.

Once again, I apologise if I am voicing something which has already been discussed, but nothing ventured nothing gained eh.

Cheers.

As you said VIP isn't a new idea but the musicians could be an interesting type. They could perhaps satisfy prisoners needs for entertainment for a significantly longer time than anything else, the cost being that if they get killed or harmed their lawyers are going to make you hand over some rather large chunks of money (unless of course you bought a high level upgrade for your lawyer and he either makes them drop the charges or if he's really high level, makes them pay you for causing trouble).

Nice. I like the idea of some sort of a happiness boosting event that boosts the morale of everyone in attendence.

Perhaps next to the 'LockDown' and 'Bang Up' buttons, have a button that says 'Gangnam Style' which makes your prisoners do this.

Thanks for the positive feedback, I knew I wasn't exploring new ground, but it's nice to specify what kind of VIPs there could I suppose.

There was one other thought I had, just a small suggestion so I'll just tack it on here rather than open up a new thread. Simply enough it relates to floors. When placing down a floor I'd find it useful (If a little lazy I suppose!) if I could hold down ctrl for example and the floor would 'fill' any current building or enclosed space.

That's probably just laziness talking but still.

Perhaps it could just be a drag-able box similar to how we currently create rooms?

Sorry, I might not be understanding correctly - I was referring to the materials section with things like grass, metal floor, paving stones etc. I was merely thinking that if you want to change the entire design of the floor in the current building (for example I like my solitary area to be floored with cold hard metal, none of this comfy concrete for their feet) then holding a button could just make the floor material 'fill' in the same will the fill function works on MS paint for example.

Again, it's probably just laziness so I'll leave that one out.

i also like that - may we go further. if there is an ability to select a room, an "upgrade room" funktion is a possible idea. the upgrade will offer you depending on the chosen tileset the option to change its floor/wall style.

also i think an option to store and load "pre-build" rooms or "room-styles" would be nice.

It could be a new package, design your own rock star to bring to prisons.
Yes, that is a penguin with rabies. Deal with it.
