Alpha7 Mac Textures Issue

Postby Saint11 » Thu Mar 07, 2013 8:45 am

I realize bugs should be reported through the Mantis Tracking system, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't being an idiot and missing some quick fix before I report this.

I'm playing on a Mac (the youtube lets plays on PC I've seen seem fine, so I'm assuming this is just a Mac issue). Alpha 7 is a textures orgy for me. It looks like this:

The texture problems are really only the staff, prisoners, and objects, everything else is just fine. You can see in the second image the workers hurrying to build the foundations, the delivery truck, a bunch of boxes, and some non-existant trees.

Closing and relaunching the application changes the wonky textures to...different wonky textures. Very rarely (1 out of 100 tries) I'll get the correct textures, though I haven't been lucky enough to have that happen in several days. This problem is NOT present in Alpha 6, I've had no problems with 6 whatsoever. I like the gameplay in 7 more (only guards can open doors) and would rather play 7, but with this texture problem it's unplayable.

Is there some easy fix to this that I just haven't thought of? Is anyone else playing on a Mac having this problem? I'll report the bug to Mantis if I haven't sorted the issue in a few days.

The good news is you're not an idiot. The bad news is there's no quick fix. Probably worth putting in Mantis if it's not there already.

Holy crap those aren't even just the wrong textures. Some of them are completely fucked.

On Windows, some people posted similar graphical glitches to the 2 gray blocks below the clock in the second screenshot. In their cases, the problem was with settings in the graphics driver related to texture quality or some aggressive performance optimization. You may want to check if these settings are available on OSX.

Else to try to change the filtering in Prison Architect options?

I have found changing the resolution works. I have more problems in windowed mode than full screen.

This problem presented itself when I'd change the filtering settings in the game (on Windows). Restarting the game solved it. If you have multisampling or supersampling enbled, try turning it off and see if that does anything. It won't look as good, but it's better than having those wonky textures all over the place.

I have found (for three different mac products) that changing filtering to multisampled fixes the problem.

Hope it works
