Why would you take all the time to create the prison (which is well made), record, edit, render and upload a video, and then use that horrible song. Its a pretty good prison and video, it just boggles my mind why you picked that song, if you had only invested a fraction of the time into picking a song for you video than you spent on everything else, you could have picked a half decent song that isn't annoying to many people. Good job other than that.

It's not that we can't think of a good song, it's that we can't think of a worse one. Literally anything else would be fine in comparison - even Barry Manilow.

"Life is a Highway" was originally sung by Tom Cochrane back in 1991, however was also covered by Rascal Flatts later on in 2006, which is the version some people (myself included) might be more familiar with. It is generally well known as a fantastic rambling sort of song that makes a connection between the feeling of driving down the open road and the feeling of being alive, as so many other great songs have done before.

Tom Cochrane: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3sMjm9Eloo

Rascal Flatts: (tied in with the movie Cars, as this song was used in the movie as well) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvsmRuRp4cM

Unfortunately, this wonderful song has at some time in the past been converted into a "Chipmunk" song, which seems to involve the process of turning up the pitch of the singers voice to a level that 1% of the population enjoys... and the other 99% find akin to nails on chalkboard.

I don't think anyone is saying that Life is a Highway isn't a great song, but the Chipmunk version, like all Chipmunk versions, makes me want to claw my eardrums out. If you are one of the 1% that likes Chipmunk songs, then all power to you, but understand that everyone else will hate it, and will in fact focus on how bad the song is, as opposed to how good the rest of your video is. (And from the 10 seconds I withstood the singing before closing the video, it seemed like a great video.)

I did understand from your video that you wanted to include the original song, but couldn't for copyright reasons. I 110% sympathize with you on this, copyright laws on youtube are a nightmare, and the original song would have sounded great. Ultimately though, the video will come across better with complete silence than with a Chipmunk song. :( Perhaps you might consider a voice over instead, if you can't find any decent non-Chipmunk music to use?

Excellent, thank you, well said.

Aren't classical pieces over one hundred years old free from licensing issues? If all else fails, I could tolerate some subtle classical playing in the background, as long as it's not bloody Pachelbel's Canon.

I actually looked this up... apparently recordings of classical music are copyrighted, by the people who did the recording. However, the sheet music itself is not copyrighted... so you could hire a pianist to play the song you want, record them, and use that on youtube.

Like I said... copyright laws are a complete nightmare. :P

The prison is good, but the music and the reactions to it are what make this video hilarious.

Intentional or not, you made me laugh for a solid 5 minutes. Well played good sir, well played.
