[Suggestion] Family Visit Days

Postby WardenNorton » Sat Dec 29, 2012 5:27 pm

I think that along with phone booths, you designate a room as Family Meets. It requires a table and a bench. Then the prisoners' father/mother (RANDOMIZED) comes every 7 prison architect days. It cures homesickness for a very long time!

Opinions?

Looks like this is will be implemented shortly judging by the items in the latest object.png file.

A big part of running a prison is ensuring security, and outside visits are a huge, but necessary, security threat. You have to deal with people bringing in outside objects, true, but there's also issues with gang members communicating illegal information between each other during visits. At a more basic level, there are logistical issues with safely admitting civilians (including children) inside prison walls without allowing prisoners to harm them. On the other hand, if prisoners aren't allowed visits, they quickly go stir-crazy because they lose their connection to the law-abiding world. Adding challenges like these that players have to cope with could really help strengthen PA's mid-game.

This could be interesting to see if prisoners got ahold of some wives and children and tried to use them as ransom to get better treatment, food or even to let them walk free. This could introduce some interesting moral choices.

All I said was a father OR mother. Not a gigantic family of 4 children.

Dosn't mean I can't suggest it just because you didn't though. It would be odd for every wife or girlfriend that visits to not be a parent, realistically that's just not going to happen.

We both mentioned children which is what I'm assuming you're referencing when you replied.

True, I actually thought you were responding to Christopher too. Anyway, if the developers decide to add visitation to the game (which they probably will), it seems like they may as well introduce a wider variety of visitors to increase the variety of challenges stemming from it.

I assume that to keep with the nature of the game and to keep it as close to the real thing as they can, then this would be implemented at some time anyway.

I feel visitation would be a good addition to the game, as above, giving it an extra challenge to oversee.

I think some parts about keeping it secure due to taking hostages, arranging escape attempts etc, could be an extremely tall order for the developers to handle and manage. Let's keep it simple for now, and look at expanding going forward?

Whatever they can't include in the standard game I'll hapily buy for DLC.
