An Idea for Prison Routine

Postby BoozleBox » Mon Nov 12, 2012 12:52 am

Hi all :D Just had an idea for the prisoner routine system. At the moment as you all know you can specify a daily routine that all the prisoners adhere too. My idea would be to add a way of selecting a cell block in the same fashion as you would a cell or any other room. Its requirement would just be a cell but in the routine tab it would allow you to set up different routines for the different designated blocks. In this way would would be able to have more control over the movement of prisoners for example if you had cell block A and B at opposite ends of a yard you could set different times for the blocks yard time and hence reduce the number of prisoners that could start a fight. Also it would be nice if then prisoners from block A could be stopped from entering block B, maybe in the way you can make staff only doors. Hope you all think this is a good idea please leave feedback below

Idea in Short:

Designatable cell blocks,
Different routines assignable to each block and
prisoners only access there blocks.

I've actually been thinking a lot about this myself. Itd be nice to be able to doing something like this for meal times so you don't have 100+ prisoners all rushing into the same room "fighting" over food.

I'd like to be able to designate different meal times for different prison blocks, same could be used for yard and shower.

has been talked about before, but yes, Agreed, that this needs to be implemented, especially for medium and large size prisons.

This is a great idea.

I think there should also be differing lockdown times for blocks, although I'm fairly confident
that's not accurate to prisons irl. This also brings a question to mind that I haven't tested...

If you have two blocks far from each other, and two yards near each block, will the prisoners split up equally
among the two yards? I tried to do this once, but a fire burnt down my prison before I could see if it worked.

Absolutely, I think this would be a must-have feature. The only issue with this idea (that I can think off the top of my head) is if it would make it too easy to run kind of several mini-prisons inside a huge one? Perhaps there could be some limitation that the routines should have some things in common, such as all of them having free time simultaneously at least an hour a day, or maybe that the lunch times between all the different routines must overlap a little. Or maybe just limit the number of routines you can create to two or three, and if you have more cell blocks than that, you'd just need to select, which routine to use with each one.
