Prison Architect: Global Financial Crisis Mod 0.99

The crime rate is up, the stock market is down. Time to tighten your belt, the Global Financial Crisis has arrived.

Key Changes
    - New: Now works with alpha 11
    - New: Outsource design decisions
    - New: Now supports small, medium and large map sizes (see grants.lua)
    - Basic and comprehensive insurance. More fun than it sounds!
    - Prison labour and visitation grants.
    - More realistic, more challenging stock market.
    - Victory conditions - Lock up 100 prisoners and win the GFC Mod!
    - Performance bonuses - The more you lock up, the more you get paid.
    - Dividends - mislead the markets and gain more investors.
    - Game is more challenging, and more satisfying.
    - No two games the same - every download has unique share market conditions and interest rates generated dynamically.
    - New grants to boost mid and late-game development.
    - Invest in shares and rake it in when market conditions are right (fixed).

    - Loans! Borrow your way out of trouble with 3 loan types:
      - Bank loan ($10,000)
      - Privatise Prison ($30,000)
      - Government bailout ($100,000)
    - Land Lease - Lease part of your land back to the state for sizeable rewards (fixed).!

Gameplay Tips
    - Plan big, but start small.
    - Don't borrow more than you can afford.
    - Time is money, so use it well.
    - Hire an accountant as soon as you can.
    - If investing, make sure you have the cash (or borrow cash, if you're feeling lucky :).

There's a readme, explaining how to install it.

Code: Select all

Installation:
-------------
1. Backup your prison architect installation
2. Download the latest prison_architect_gfc zip file from here:
   http://www.whimit.com.au/prison_architect_gfc.html
3. Unzip it into your prison architect installation folder

This looks epic... Going to go and play with it now...

--edit--

Oh dear god this is awkward... I started out being really stingy and thinking I was doing well. Then I went a bit mental and bought myself a few more doors than I realistically needed, and suddenly I was poor and couldn't afford to buy a cooker to complete my kitchen. Then I realised I'd entirely neglected to build an office OR hire my warden, so converted my half-finished kitchen into a temporary office so I could research Finance, but can't even afford to buy a filing cabinet.

I need a loan to get the accountant, but I need an accountant to give me a loan :'( Fast forward it is then...

--edit2--

Turns out the loans are there if you scroll... Hurrah!

Haha... that's an excellent story. :)

At the moment you don't need an accountant (or finance) for a 'loan'. Bankers are generous like that. ;)

You only need finance for the other grants.

Fun, yes... but it's certainly a challenge :)

This is how my first attempt ended, after about 8 hours of play:

... and It was going sooo well until then. Those loans are a slipperly slope!!

It seems like I always get 8 prisioners on continious intake (same issue with the vanilla game) - Is it really random, because it sure would be nice to sometimes get only 1, 2 or zero new inmates. 8 new dirtbags a day is a lot of new bodies.

Yep, this was something I really wanted to do, but couldn't get working. It's certainly on the todo list. The following didn't work (from within grants.lua, which I suspect can't access 'Game'), can anyone shed light?

Code: Select all

Game.Lock("room","Workshop")

Awkwardly, paktsardines was the last to comment on that thread. :P
