It's how reality looks in america, in some prisons, less so in other countries and states of america for that matter. It depends how culturally diverse the country is, otherwise you're not even going to get enough people of different ethnicities for it to matter, so many that it's blended far too much for what you are suggesting or just different dividing lines.

I don't see why race needs to be an issue for a simulation, or why it would take 'balls' to implement, that's just chest thumping nonesense. Only if it would add to the 'simulation' or take away, remember this isn't an RPG either we have macro level control for the most part.
Is it really going to add very much if you see black pixels and white pixels into two different groups, or take away very much if you see black pixels and white pixels working together?
