Instant Build Option during sandbox mode. (Custom Campaigns)

Postby frasercarter » Tue Oct 30, 2012 7:12 am

Hear me out, whether it be for full game or just for the sake of alpha testing.

True Sandbox mode - instant build (no need for workers to build)
Or access to a debug cheat menu offering these things on the fly.

+this would allow players to make rapidly spanning prisons to test their PCs, and the game to find bugs, errors and crashes.

+this would also allow players to quickly create prisons that they could then use for custom campaigns, which will really keep the prison sharing community alive.

+this will also help with the potential modding community.

Thoughts?

6.7 seconds to edit the savegame file using notepad for any amount of money currently.

Instant build is certain to be in the later versions of PA but its certainly not a priority for IV to consider just now....

It quite funny, how people suggest game features, that already exist or really aren't needed all the time and the dev seem to not care, at least I didn't see any of the user suggested stuff on the poll. Maybe we should wait & mod, instead of requesting features, that would only slow down development unneccessarily.

Strictly speaking that's not true, all of the things on the poll had been mentioned previously. Zoning has a lot of coverage, as does the Fog of War. Admittedly these were both things that Introversion thought of prior to people posting about them, but that's not to say they're ignoring everything we say.

That being said, I agree with the last bit.

I would be happy with access to the dev menus and stuff shown in the video.

Why do you need Instabuild, when you can easily jsut cheat money, build everything in pause mode and then let workers construct it, while turning off income.
Making a campaign requies a lot more than jsut building btw

Instabuild is something I'll be avoiding, even with a trainer. I think it would be hard to go back to playing the normal way afterwards.

ERRMM.. let me think, because I want to design a $#@% large prison and not have to wait 2hrs for workers to build it

then put up with workers with waypoint issues
Oh and wait another 2 hrs to watch them RUN from one side of the map to the other..then when the prison gets far more complex, it takes them 3 times as long as that to waypoint through checkpoints, rooms, doors etc.

the put up with blocked walls that can never be built because of blockage issues...

It hasnt been done, and it cant be done under these circumstances of waiting for worker AI
come on, you show me your 1000 Capacity Prison that you made... can anybody?

you sir... are a derek.

Ahem... My 1073 capacity prison for your viewing pleasure

PS. The game isn't half as broken as you make out. A proper large capacity prison would easily be doable.

I think people just can't be bothered to actually play the game properly. Then again now days there are so many hack's and crack's for PC games it is why I gave up playing CoD and other games online through my PC.

I think this game is perfect right now. I am happy with it, and I never use trainers or cheats, they just degrade the quality of play. It takes the challenge out of the game, and no challenge means no fun.

True Sandbox mode - instant build (no need for workers to build)

That game already exists. It's called Microsoft Paint.
